I’ll admit, I assumed the SSD would have been nicked from this, but no. That gives me some hope that it was just a normal user who broke the screen and then gave up

    Before we sink too much time into it, does it work at all? Fortunately it has a micro-hdmi port … and yes, we have a weirdly formatted, but most importantly, complete screen

    Getting into the screen and computer was easier than I expected - you don’t have to take much apart to get to the point where you can replace the screen ribbon. The ribbon itself is annoying because it works like the DS one, where you have to roll it up to fit it through the hinges

    And done, a technically working GPD Win 2. Technically because the battery doesn’t seem to hold a charge and the reason the screen was flapping in the breeze was because one of the hinges has broken off the case. So I’ll need to source a replacement battery and glue the hinge back.

    The other sticky point is that I managed to drop one of the shoulder button springs on the floor, where it instantly enter workshop hyperspace - so I’ll also need to work that out
