The Democratic Party establishment would prefre 8 more years of Trump, over losing control of the party to people like Zohran Mamdani.

Trump won A SECOND TERM after his ineptitude during his first exactly because of that.

To try to win against an outright Fascist they were only willing to go as far cosying up to the Cheney family.
