Classic YS competition address there, requiring a five metre long envelope.
@auntymadge Impressive cover, unless the game wasn't as terrifying as Spielberg's movie.
Damn, those are a couple of ugly humans(?)
The bot is getting thirsty.
Oo-er!
I had this issue and used this map!!!
Same here with Karnov. Fauxanadu was super hard to time jumps. Forgot about that. But the music was a lot of fun.
KARNOV?! I've played a lot of that. Along with Fauxanadu
Ah the good old days, when Boots the chemist used to sell computer games and accessories (and I think computers too!)
Gazza was/is Paul Gascione, an English footballer.
This is the first I've heard of them! Very interesting.
That looks really nice.
Hobbyists would have loved it.
Any idea how popular these got?
Doesn't feel much considering the price tag.
The illustration is a map for the game Pyracurse.
It starts on page 58 or so of the archive.org PDF.
oops, i just looked at the screen and didn't realize this. I subscribed to the community because a page referenced a newsgroup discussion that i was interested in, it made me then look it up on archive.org.
The Spectrum was a bit before my time :-) But i love reading old magazines, so it fits anyways :-)
Gameboy games? This is a Spectrum mag!
I believe they literally took photos of the screen.
how did they take screenshots of gameboy games? did they actually take photos or were there any modules for journalism?
I think I remember this very issue. Man, these magazines were great. So much value with the free games on top of everything else.
Altered Beast on Master System was already a hot mess of reach exceeding grasp. How crap was the Spectrum version?
Answer: they really fuckin' tried. Someone put their whole ass into it. All that's missing is a 1-bit sample yelling "wise from your gwave!"
Okay, and it is painfully obvious they never rotate their bytes for per-pixel scrolling.
THREE Porsches! THREE!
Have you got any clue how many Porsches that is?!?
(it's three)
(THREE!!!)
Software on ROM! I totally forgot that used to exist for home computers.
So do I. And was it actually Mel Croucher on the end of the line? Did anybody phone this back in the 90s?
I want to know what the 3 minutes of mind blowing entertainment on Mel Croucher's Computer Fun Line was.
Damn. The ol' dot matrix printers were pricey enough.
