I'm really excited to finally see some videos about it! The feedback has been sounding pretty great so far. I think this will be my cue to boot into Windows again and give it a shot once this makes it to live.

According to the wiki, it looks like he was only there for about 4-5 months:

Oliver Hull, better known as Olli43, is a streamer who became Content Manager for [Cloud Imperium Games]( "Cloud Imperium Games") in June 2026.

He used to be a web developer who eventually quit his job to start making videos full time.

He also ran a gear review channel called Shockbox.

He left CIG on November 2nd 2026

It looks like most here are on board with the move. I'll still give this thread a few more days for feedback. Most likely I'll use the "Move community" option that @hal@piefed.nz pointed out in the comments below.

I went ahead and set up an initial community over at !starcitizen@piefed.zip. I also set up a simple RSS feed to pull from the latest official spectrum "comm-link" announcements.

This is awesome timing. I just snagged a Super heavy armor from Siege of Orison and was wondering where I can stock up on heavy machine gun ammo.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Edit

Looks like it's just avaialble in-bulk at most gun shops. How unimaginative, CIG, lol. I'd hoped it would be a bit harder to come by, but oh well.

Yeah, that's a good point, sooner than later would be better.

As far as building up content, @INeedMana@piefed.zip have you heard of any scripts or tools for transferring posts/comments from one community to another?

I know that PieFed has a way of moving posts between communities, but I don't know how well this works with Lemmy communities.

As an alternative to Reddit PieFed.zip makes more sense becaue of what it allows. And the development of features is quicker there.

For me personally it doesn't matter, as long as I don't need to use Reddit.

I'm not particularly active these days since I'm taking a long break from the game so my opinion isn't super important at this point. Still, I might as well drop my thoughts to help kickstart the discussion.

Personally, I'm neutral, leaning to positive. These new features would be neat from the community perspective and should help on the moderation side of things. I think there's a good chance such move would lead to a better and healthier community in the long run.
At the same time, most of this won't really affect me - I try to keep the number of accounts (in general not just social media) to a minimum so I have no interest in making a new one just to use a few additional options within a single community. Subbing to it? Sure, but that's it.

If you decide to proceed with the move, now would definitely be the best time to do so in my opinion. Squadron's release is still a way off which should leave plenty of time to build up the new place (both in terms of content and traffic) before the (potential) influx of new players. It does come with some downsides, as you said, but it would be better to do it sooner rather than later.

As far as I understand it this basically kills the grey market. All those sites like the Impound have a time limit now until their stock of giftable ships runs out.

Which I think is probably a good thing.
