Well, at least when your house burns down, it won't take long to get to your car, where you now live

"For every minute we are delayed getting to a fire, roughly that fire doubles in size, and so that increases the risk to you all," Seattle Fire Captain Tim Taylor, based out of Greenwood's Station 21, told Queen Anne residents at a community meeting held on the change this May. "When a rig can't get through or has to try to negotiate a very tight space, those are all things that are going to count directly against patient outcomes. That's the reality that we're dealing with.

I disagree with this decision from Colossal Katie, but more than that I find it disappointing that she's taking the position "it's too hard;" I would respect "I have ideological disagreements" much more

Wilson said she vetoed that part of the legislation because of efficacy concerns. In her letter explaining the veto, she referenced difficulties conducting and using a one-time census of RV residents, RV ownership documentation challenges, administrative costs for RV storage, enforcement issues, and how permit non-compliance could increase unsheltered homelessness in Seattle.

They aren't free, just available where needed instead of just where most commercially viable. The same site has an article about one installed via an early program in 2023:

    https://www.myballard.com/2023/04/13/electric-vehicle-charging-station-coming-to-ballard/

This was the listed cost at the time:

The cost to charge will be $0.21 per kWh, and payments will be accepted via the Shell Recharge app or RFID card.

You will absolutely be charged for idling a car past the charging time like at other EV chargers.

you know where this is heading...some assholes will stay plugged in forever just parking.

They need a meter that starts charging the customer for idle time after full charge.

If you want a better experience driving in Seattle you should vote for prop 1 to get terrible drivers (like me!) to get out of their cars and into busses

More buses are better for everyone. For transit riders, increased frequency and reliability means more flexibility and less stress. Frequency is freedom and expanding when and how often a bus runs makes transit more viable as a primary mode of transportation. That makes things better even for drivers as the more people that take the bus– with fewer driving cars, the roads will be safer and less traffic-heavy.

They dont know who you voted for by design, as all ballots are anonymous. There is no way to check that, as the ballot tracking is separate from the vote counting. The counting process is audited and done by machine, so there should be no bias. The paper ballots are kept so a recount can be done if needed.

The "accepted" status from the links above show that your ballot was received, your signature verified, and your vote counted.

Make sure to get a ballot if you haven’t received one yet

If you haven’t received your ballot yet, you can call King County Elections at 206-296-8683, or request a replacement online. And if you find ballots in places they shouldn’t be, you can reach out to King County at elections@kingcounty.gov or 206-296-8683. Watkins says to include photos if possible along with details about where they were found so they can reissue ballots and report it to USPS.

mostly means a warmer, drier, sunnier winter

I really hope not, but the NOAA 3-month outlook is bleak for those of us who enjoy winter. It might be even worse than last year, and last year's snowfall was historic amounts of awful. Many snow monitoring stations were at 30-year lows, or worse. I had a planned winter camping trip last February, and instead of snow we had sunny 60-degree afternoons. Ski areas were barely operating.

I feel some guilt as the rest of the world braces for the super el nino that for us I think it mostly means a warmer, drier, sunnier winter

Actually… this probably is the start of El Niño starting to get its fingerprints on our weather.

It’s not quite the typical El Niño jet stream pattern juuuuust yet despite our dry weather and California’s rain, but looking at the long range models, give it about a week or so because things look very El Nino-ey to start November.

You should have your ballot by now, and this election seems like a particularly important one to get your ballot in early

If you do not complete your ballot and get it back in the mail very soon, consider using a ballot dropbox instead of the postal service in case the Trump administration successfully delays ballot postmarking as they have said they would.
