The font and color scheme are very much on point. Traditionally fuel would be marked, but everyone knows all the nooks available are used for fuel, so I don't mind the omission.

There's a lot to unpack here and a lot of this will be down to personal preference

    1. I think that static TN (SR4+) is mathematically broken and was a wrong idea. But I can see why CGL stuck with that later on
    2. There is not that big difference between SR4 and SR5. Latter can be a bit less swingy because of limits but also that means that SR5 has another thing to check when rolling
    3. Because of lack of limits, "meta" in SR4 is to invest in Initiative stat
    4. They added wireless in this edition and while I do think it was needed it got a bit too shoehorned
    5. Matrix is a bit faster than SR3- but still not good IMO. But I'm from the camp that prefers SRA2.0 Matrix, YMMV

In itself it's not a bad edition, it just has it quirks (as all of them do)

    Also, there is !shadowrun@sh.itjust.works ;)

I do think it’s very premature to start judging this before we have seen literally anything. It is possible there could be some mechanisms that are very supportive of the genre and play style that we haven’t thought about yet. I refuse to judge the system or the content until it’s actually released.

Why are each of your lines wrapped in ellipsis?

…what many anti-fifth-edition positions miss is that it’s not about learning a new system, it’s about compatibility across a vast ecosystem of disparate settings and campaigns…

I don't think 5e is especially compatible with disparate settings and campaigns. It's not an actually generic system like Fate or GURPS. It's got underbaked or entirely missing whole RPG subsystems and mechanics (eg: social conflict, succeed-at-a-cost, metagame currency). It's highly opinionated in other regards- hit points, class and level, resting. You can hammer the peg into the hole, but you could do that with anything.

It's not a good system for modeling anything outside heroic fantasy.

It's certainly a popular system, but many things are popular without being good. But, if your top priority is going where people are, by all means stick to D&D 5e, reddit, facebook, etc.

I don't really have a lot of empathy for people who don't want to learn a new rule system.

First off, most of those people barely know 5e to begin with. You could swap them into another system and they'd probably perform about as well.

Aside from that, maybe they don't mean to sound anti-intellectual, but they kind of do. It's okay to read and learn new things. I've had potential players put up more of a fight than it would've taken to just read the thing.

Related, I think there's like a literacy crisis. Many people don't seem to read or think great.

Wait, that is not a joke

I haven't played Traveller, but isn't d20 power creep inflation a bit not in line with Traveller's more gritty/realistic power curve?

    Looks great!

By way of picking nits though, the green felt playing tables seem like they are superimposed over the rest of the image because the lighting doesn't seem to be affecting them in the way that many of the other props have a purplish wash over them.

To be clear, this doesn't actually matter in any significant gameplay way, and it definitely helps those tables in particular stand out, which may have been your intention, so heaping handfuls or salt with this comment.

    Thank you for your post!

@eerongal. (How did you tag people in here?)

Yeah, you can tag people, you have to use @username@instance and it should popup a context window on the regular UI, i believe. Like this - @roflo1@ttrpg.network - it will then normalize it into a link format that looks like:

    [@roflo1@ttrpg.network](https://ttrpg.network/u/roflo1)

Why are people still shoehorning 5e into other genres? D&D has always been a shit system, each edition in its own way, and each had at least one (if not dozens) attempted reskin to sci-fi, et al.

In this era of unfettered global adoption and public attention that has inspired countless new RPG systems, why the fuck are we still seeing people shovel this bucket of parts into a new box? 🤦🏽‍♂️ Fucksake.

Yeah, I guess I was just completely disconnected on the real hazard of depressurization. It’s not just about holding your breath.

The worst part is that I have read about this stuff in several contexts. Maybe it’s just that it’s not a common part of my life.

OP, you should check this video out. It's about what happens when planes depressurize and why you need to put your mask in first before helping others. https://youtu.be/kUfF2MTnqAw

Falling unconscious in 15 seconds is not only realistic, it's generous. Dying in 15 seconds seems more correct. Because this isn't low pressure, this is a vacuum!

Now, what makes sense in a game and what's fun to play around, that's different. I'm not saying you should make it so you die in 15 seconds lol. Only sharing this since you seemed to believe longer was realistic.
