Here's some context:

Old paper used to be more valuable for recycling. Not sure if it was just that on-street recycling pickup wasn't a thing yet, or that it wasn't quite worth the money to do more than have kids run around doing cheap labor, or what. Recyclers would have kids go around and collect paper to bring to them, and the kids would get some money for their school/community.

Shermy and Charlie Brown have collected some paper already and plan to collect more, but get distracted when they notice comics in the papers they've already collected. It confused me at first why they'd have papers and call it a paper sale, but also want to collect papers. It's because they're selling donated papers to a recycler. "Paper drive" pulled up better search results than "paper sale", which was mostly online paper stores

Was this how things worked before on-street recycling pickup was a thing? They would send children around the city to collect paper products?

I’m usually a sarcastic a-hole. But, what a fricking treasure.

Snoopy before the military experiments.

OMG, he just keeps getting cuter. How did I never see any of the baby Schroeder strips until now?

👍

I know dealing with a community from another instance can be... not the most thrilling experience. So, I'm 100% ok with whatever decision you think will make your life easier ;)

Nice jacket.

Hopefully good Tobe is found around me today.

Thanks, updated. I pull the transcripts from the site that hosts the comics, and sometimes they're wrong. I usually check that they're right, but of course I forget to check when it's wrong 😅

Transcript is for a different comic than the one posted?

I'm shocked to learn that the first football gag comic predates Lucy Van Pelt, and instead features Violet!

I wonder what the sentence was?

Umm... I think the transcript is supposed to be for a different comic as it doesn't match what's in either image at all.

Been waiting a long time to get this comic.

I was going to ask if this was the first, until I read the description!

I love how the original context was more harmless, somehow makes it funnier, like I feel like this has happened to me or my friends when we were kids

Love Peanuts, can’t believe I’ve never seen this original strip before.

Thanks for posting!

Oh my God, the old versions were so CUTE. I've never seen them!

Anything can be eaten with chopsticks if you're determined enough.

I think he was annoyed by her presence

I can’t tell if he’s trying to hide his skills as a pianist or if her compliment made him want to practice harder.

Either way, once again, baby Schroeder is super cute.
