Unless they get an upstream merge that fixes the whole miasma of problems at the interface of secure boot, kernel lockdown mode, and suspended to disk, then this is just a meaningless puff piece.

The phoronix article misses what makes the project important:

Konsole is very intertwined with the older of the two user interface tech stacks in Qt, QWidget. QWidget typically renders using the CPU, and so does Konsole. Newer KDE software (including Plasma itself) typically uses Qt Quick and benefits from GPU acceleration via Vulkan or OpenGL instead. This is what Kwi does as well. For certain terminal applications the performance gain (3x-35x faster than Konsole depending on what's being benchmarked) can make an actual big difference in the user experience, but generally it should also help reduce battery usage.

I know at least one developper who chose to use libadwaita instead of Kirigami because QtQuick didn't have a good terminal widget.

Seems like a good place to remind people to patch their node.js and php, and any systems that depend on them (like coding environments or NextCloud servers). Hundreds of vulnerable Nextcloud servers have been compromised over the past week — NextCloud AIO users who keep updated should be fine.

The more software runs well outside Windows, the stronger other operating systems are. So I think he's right that running Office well is important to get users to switch, even if I stopped using it many years ago.

So, going back to the original question, yes, AI agents have allowed me to take on an amount of work that would have been unthinkable for a single person just a few years ago, but by using them, I've started questioning the very technology they're based on and, well, perhaps that's the best way to describe my relationship with artificial intelligence, haha.

Many moons ago, long before generative slop coding, I made research on a file storage company for a project. I was already suspicious by their business page being fronted only by two smiling middle aged men without any trace is software engineering in their credentials. They claimed to have all kinds of certificates and whatnot. And they happily accepted that I made an admin account with a one letter password. Some more poking around and it didn't get any better.

Incompetence is everywhere. Do not trust that anybody selling services in the cloud have any idea what they are doing.

The CRL’s were signed with the original private keys (which were supposed to be the correct keys with appropriate entropy) but given that this resulted in incorrect signatures, they were resigned with flawed keys.

    Lmao I have no words.
