Most places with such varied history usually are, I'd be surprised if I were allowed to even keep a pottery shard.

Like id absolutely make sure it gets a climate controlled enclosure built around it and it would be open for public viewing and everything, I'd just want it to stay where it was buried

Egypt is pretty locked down about their antiquities (for incredibly understandable reasons, Europe looted and destroyed huge swathes of their history), I’d be surprised if you’re allowed to keep anything more significant than a pot shard. I’d want to at least keep it until I died too, though. I’m just watching it for the museum!

So obviously in certain areas, they can be fairly sure that if they stumble across certain things it could be an archeological find, and should contact some form of archeological society, museum, or other research authority....

But I'm imagining a farmer tripping over a rock, calling the cops, and the cops showing up to arrest the stone.

Also I'm not sure what they do in situations like this, but if they wanted to move them, I'd want to keep one.

I have been dreaming of something like this for years. Walk around and be like i wonder what the story is behind that (public) building? And then just be able to find out or add information yourself.

I don't know anything about the person who runs this and I don't want to make any unfounded accusations, but I have to imagine that a site like this would be a data broker's wet dream.

It knows where you live and what local things you're most interested in. That's gotta be extremely valuable to advertisers.
