Very relevant, thank you. I'll look into this, but seems aimed at the same problem I'm trying to fix for myself, so that's very cool. There's a trove of data out there, and the goal is just a tool to put it all together for the end users, at no cost.

There's a couple features I'm working in that rhystic tracker might not have or need, like multi tenant support (let a playgroup share an instance) and embedded forge integration (for deck testing with mechanics), but its not clear if those are really needed. Again, I frequently keep 2 landers with no playable spells, so my judgement is suspect, I know.

Thanks again, this is helpful.

I’m not a huge fan of AI (read I hate it), so obviously I’d encourage you to struggle your way through without it, but I have been looking for an alternative to the ManaVault app. It’s the closest to a “one stop shop” I’ve found, though it would be cool to include the EDHRec feature of card combos and the brackets they fit in. I won’t totally write off whatever you come up with, but I’d honestly rather work with human made jank than AI gen jank.

One thing I wanted and built out for my own deck building, was quickly sending a deck into a play test, which is done by actually running the forge engine in the background (can be disabled), and then interfacing with it inside the instance. The result is that you can quickly start a full mechanics game against a not in one second, that let's you goldfish thru the deck, etc, but all embedded right in the user interface.

The back and forth between tweaking things, and pushing to a "real" turn 3 or whatever, is a lot faster like this.

The Bastion style boxes? They're all transparent and hard plastic, aren't they?

Truth be told, I'm looking for something thematic to hold Star Trek decks. I'm gonna make a Landfall/Strange New Worlds/Blink deck that's starting with the Landing Party precon as a base. The box doesn't need to be Star Trek specifically, as I realize there's licensing issues there, but I like it being somewhat related. For example just got a new playmat for it that isn't specifically Star Trek themed:

Great article and a tough read. We want our beloved franchise to be as human as the game we enjoy, and it absolutely isn't anymore. A money printing machine walking around in a skin suit saying it cares about anything but dollars.

The creative minds actually doing the work to put out this product live in daily fear they will be laid off, because Hasbro is known to do that. Didn't they 86 a bunch of staff last year at Christmas? Ghouls.

CGB (MTG), Rarran (Hearthstone), and Cimo (YGO) used to do collabs like this as well, at least before Cimo passed. There's also a lot of content of them learning each other's games, if you're interested in that.

    General Notes

We're pleased to announce the newest official release: Cockatrice 3.1.0: Reality Check

Cockatrice 3.1 continues the modernization effort started in 3.0 with a wave of gameplay polish, quality-of-life improvements, and under-the-hood work that makes the client faster and more resilient. Highlights include real invites with a searchable user picker and one-click links that open the client straight into the right game, deck share links and public decks for handing a deck over in one click, playmats for a personalized table, an onboarding wizard to get new players started, custom deck zones (including a maybeboard), animated arrows and life counter changes, cards that speak your language down to names, rules text, and art (searchable in that language too, for the first time), a card search autocomplete that follows you into chat, and a reporting / moderation queue for server operators.

Also new: custom card art overrides to pin your own image to any printing, and a theme overhaul with two new built-in themes, light and dark asset variants, curated image-theme palettes, and a brand new palette editor that builds a whole color scheme from a single accent color. Underneath all of it, a major binary card database cache slashes startup from seconds to milliseconds, the Oracle importer needs a fraction of its former memory while actually showing progress as it works, and there's a CSPRNG upgrade for security alongside broad build-system modernization including precompiled headers and ccache, with the game layer split away from its graphics so the two can evolve independently.

This release contains 285 pull requests, spread across usability, performance and maintainability.
