Kitchen sink packs are nice! I like tailor-made modpacks better, personally.

I like exploration, mining, and maybe building - Anything that is not combat, my reaction time suckkks. I prefer modern minecraft, but 1.7.10 etc. is okay.

Don't be afraid to try making your own modpack. There is a little bit of a learning curve if you've never done it before, but you could probably finish this in a single afternoon if you simply don't let yourself go too crazy with the number of mods.

Get yourself a big-name alternative launcher like Modrinth (which I prefer) or Curseforge and then look through the mods that support either Neoforge or Fabric and settle on a Minecraft version with the mods that catch your eye. So long as you try to avoid having multiple mods that affect the same things, most mods will just work together out of the box and only require some minor tweaking of the config options to feel good. In the case that the mods you've installed just aren't cooperating, a mod like Crash Assistant might be about to help you out as well as forums like this one, but the best method is just to disable half the mods, test, and then disable another half until you've narrowed down the culprit.

Honestly man, depending on how long its been since you played, the modpacks may not have changed super much. There's a few standouts every year or two but its gotten a bit stagnant.

Gregtech NE is less a game and more of a lifestyle choice as you've kinda noticed. Monifactory is super similar and still a hell of an undertaking but will take you dramatically less hours to progress (still a lot). If you want to go simpler than that, I was a big fan of Stoneblock 4, it mostly revolves around one giant fairly interesting multiblock structure that you upgrade over time.

I pick a big kitchen sink pack like all the mods and make sure it has the tech mods that I like. I prefer to play on servers so I am limited to what packs are available on what servers. Last pack I played was All the mods 10 which was pretty good.

What kind of mods do you like? Are you an exploration person? Do you have a preference for any minecraft version?

Lately I've been playing Gregtech Community Pack Modern, which does seem like it's what you're looking for. It's a casual (peaceful mode) Gregtech modpack.

Finding modpacks to play in general has been difficult for me, but I recently stumbled upon this website that gets modpacks from curseforge/modrinth and lets you search for modpacks by version, mods, and categories.

(I am not affiliated with either of these projects)

Hmm. Essential Mod adds paid, bedrock-style cosmetics to Java. They do help offset the costs of their servers, which are necessary for letting players join friends directly (without UPnP, vpn or port forwarding). These cosmetics are visible to other essential players, and equivalents (3d character additions) are not freely attainable without another mod.

“Essential” taints any Java modpack in my opinion.

I can’t speak to their Bedrock Marketplace content. I dislike the Bedrock Marketplace and think it is full of (and heavily advertises) low-quality, overpriced slop, and that Microsoft takes far too big of a share, but if Spark’s content is well-made, I think it’s fair to sell.

With the alternative being CurseForge, I’ll still probably continue to use Modrinth as a content creator and as a player. I’m cautious about this, though.

Most of the modpacks that I play with my friends I make myself. That way I get whatever mods I (or my friends) want, except for maybe some that aren't available for the version I make the modpack for or that don't play well together. It does take a bit of time though and most of the time I don't bother making quests

Usually I just go on curseforge website and look there. Most modrith ones don't really suit me as I love massive mod packs with quests to guide me. I need a edn goal and progression in mine.

But usually I just go on curseforge and just filter by quests and the most recent and relevant version (currently 1.2* versions) and just scroll and scroll tell I find something interesting and download it on prism and go.im creative and see what's it is about and then repeat tell I find something

Just google plus what im looking for in the mod pack. Though for now I’ve settled on vanilla ++ mods. Better Minecraft by Luna pixel has been pretty enjoyable so far. Even if it does seem to be somewhat balanced for co-op.

Look on Pokemon sites. IVs and EVs have been a somewhat hidden feature in the mainline games for over a decade, and tend to be more heavily highlighted in fan works due to their importance in competitive play. They're modifiers to stats that help make every Pokemon of the same breed unique, and they can be effected in various ways.

IVs by breeding and "hyper training", EVs I believe are effected by what other Pokemon yours defeats.

Society: Sunlit Valley is a Stardew Valley inspired pack that includes both. The Create stuff comes in a bit later in progression, but it's because automation is valuable. The pack has a lot of changes from base Minecraft that focus gameplay on the Stardew economic cycle with seasons and crops.

Uncharted Expeditions had a fun progression through different dimensions (some based on Alex's Caves) with nicely balanced Create and merging Create and food to make some demon summoning milkshakes for important resources.

Create and Farmer's Delight are very popular mods so they're in a ton of packs, so that wouldn't really restrict your choice. I'd start looking to other aspects to influence your choice, like whether people like progression or whether they want to just use whatever parts of the pack they like the most and ignore the rest.

You can search for packs with specific mods at https://www.modpackindex.com/modpack/finder.

The newest pack that I particularly enjoyed was FTB Skies 2, which has both of those. It's a skyblock, though, so that may be a deal breaker.

The only thing that bugged me was the lack of appropriate flight tech in a pack about sky travel, but I was able to resolve that by adding another mod into it. Other than that it was a pretty enjoyable pack.

Action and stuff is a problem too, they started to take down packs that have similiar concept, a dude had taken down it's torchs resourcepack because they had the flame particle, the textures were all different. Luckly it's now up because people started to flood action and stuff server with complaints
