Well, you should be getting only notifications for direct replies, not all comments. Have you checked your read notifications if the ones you think are missing show up there?

I've started browsing slrpnk.net with a terminal based Lemmy/Discourse/HN/Etc client called Neon Modem Overdrive (yes really). If you can see this then commenting works too.

It's noticeably faster than using the website, presumably because it's using the API when I browse rather than having to render HTML and push that all the way to Australia for every post. Hopefully it's less pressure on the server side too.

I have not noticed a change with the search.

And no, we are still using Lemmy. We are currently waiting for the Lemmy 1.0 release and will re-evaluate the plans for moving to Piefed after upgrading to that, but at least some of the technical issue we have had with Lemmy have been solved and/or will be solved in v1.0.

Thank you for another month in this wonderful platform.

A small question, I noticed that the search is better. Is this a Lemmy update or have we moved to piefed and I missed the update?

I can look in the server logs, but when I woke up it was working, so no real idea.

Edit: looks like the ISP is doing some maintenance on the connection today. There was another brief outage just now.

I have not tried Fidus Writer, but it also seems like "overkill" as a LibreOffice Writer replacement with online collaborative editing rather than a simple Etherpad alternative. That said, it's AGPL 3.0, so it wouldn't hurt to install it and let people test it out for a while.

I took a quick jab at it in Krita using a public domain picture of some broken pottery, laid down a solarpunk logo over it, then used a rough shaped stamp tool with eraser mode on (reduced opacity) plus some added shading over some of the darker grooves in the pottery so it kinda blends in a bit better. It was just a quick and dirty attempt, and I'm not sure how well it'll show up as a smaller icon (might wanna crop it closer if it's a bit too indistinct).

Please don't feel obligated to use it if you had something else in mind or find something you like better (such as some actual ancient art like poVoq suggested, which is often super rad, and certainly better than my attempt) :)

    Base images used:

I think there is little hope reforming huge hospitals from within, but have you looked into mobile clinics and such? I think there are examples of them being operated by local NGOs to help disadvantaged rural communities or maybe seasonal migrant labour?

I mostly know concepts like that from emergency response though. Like they are relatively common in Ukraine. Most are small and only do basic care and referrals, but you can find larger examples like the mobile field hospital the Red Cross is operating in Gaza.

That pic reminds me of a post I made a while back hoping to brainstorm ways to nudge modern healthcare toward the solarpunk mentality. What we have now, especially in the big-hospital setting like where I work, seems so hopelessly incompatible with solarpunk, which still kinda drives me nuts.

Revisiting that thread, it looks like it got more attention than I realized, but still not much I can act on or forward along to others with some actual authority (of which, I don't really have squat).

Anywho, relinking it here just incase someone more creative than me stumbles across it - always looking for new improvements!

Hey, this is the art I borrowed my PFP from! Love how it captures the concept of mutual aid and the ways that communities overcome disaster and misfortune through cooperation, far more common than successfully making it through on "rugged individualism."
