Curious to know which app might be best to use for Lemmy on Android with Talkback for the most accessible experience. I'm running Android 17 on a Pixel 11 Pro XL if that helps narrow things down. Any recommendations would be extremely helpful. Thanks in advance.

I’m a blind creator, and I want to share my experience with Patreon’s age-verification process because it created a serious accessibility barrier.

Patreon required me to photograph my government-issued passport and take a selfie. The process depended heavily on visual positioning and instructions, making it extremely difficult for me to complete independently.

I eventually completed the verification, but Patreon then disabled my creator page after incorrectly classifying me as under 18. I am 33 years old, and the government ID I submitted confirms that I am an adult.

I contacted Patreon’s accessibility team and requested a manual review and restoration of my creator page. I also contacted its privacy team to cancel a pending account-deletion request. So far, I have received no response from a human representative and no confirmation that the deletion request was cancelled.

I understand why Patreon needs to verify creators’ ages. My concern is that the verification process was inaccessible, the result was incorrect, and there was no obvious way to obtain a prompt human review before my page was disabled.

Has anyone else, particularly another blind or visually impaired creator, experienced a similar problem? Were you able to obtain an accessible verification alternative or a manual review?

RE: dragonscave.space/@dhamlinmusiI have started The Urth of the New Sun by Gene Wolf now. This is set after the events of The Book of the New Sun and acts as a sort of protracted epilogue to the story.@main @mastoblind @bookstodon

Ok just what the actual fuck internets, I ran across 3 Buzzfeed-esque sites in a row with fucking #hCaptcha on them to just access their clickbait… This might just be peak inaccessibility, you succeeded in making a site so inaccessible that people cannot even access it, and did so with a site that is not even really worth accessing to begin with. #Accessibility @main @mastoblind

I'm starting to think about the next blog post, but while I do that, what did you think of the last edition? Did I cover all the ways you use to get help from within NVDA? https://www.nvaccess.org/post/in-process-7th-august-2026/#help

Perhaps next edition, we should cover how to get help from others? What would you include there?

Oh My Posh is a set of configurations and themes for powershell, that allows dynamic modification of the prompt depending on what you're doing. This is the theme I use as my daily driver, and how I have powershell set up as a screen reader user.

What are other #NVDAsr users using for a #Mastodon client on #Windows these days? I'd heard development stopped on FastSMRW. I've been using Fedra, but I'm having some issues in my home, local, and federated timelines with focus jumping off posts I'm trying to read, so I'm curious what my other options are.#blind #ScreenReader #accessibility #NVDA @mastoblind @main

Ok so in the last two weeks I have read 275 pages of #Braille, totalling 19 chapters. I finished reading The Claw of the Conciliator(The Book of the New Sun 2) by Gene Wolf, and started The Sword of the Lictor (The Book of the New Sun 3). I am sure some of you have seen my rather sparse posts logging my progress through this series, but this is more just patting myself on the back for keeping up reading consistently for almost 3 months now.@main @mastoblind @bookstodon
