I guess the main issue I have is with the very last bit (bolded).

Also, he mentions representing our country a few times. It seems to me that representing the country would mean taking a stand against genocide. Playing the match would only be for the FAI.

“The decision was made by the FAI, the Government and Uefa, for the games to be played,”

“For us as players that is not our decision. We are Irish players and when called upon we come to represent our country. That is important to know too"

"When we come together [on Friday], we will speak openly about how we feel and what we feel is right."

“We’ve been speaking to the association for quite a while" “It has been ongoing, it is not something that was just brought up. We understand, I suppose, the consequences as such to not fulfil the fixtures."

“But, again, that decision should never be made by players. When called upon, we come to represent our country. Whatever decision is made by the people higher up, that is the decision made.”

it's a shame that there aren't more, I'm not sure that many even knew it was happening. But hopefully it gets the message across.

An amazing way to represent our country would be to stand against genocide.

It'll be so historically shameful if these two games go ahead. Mick is right here: the superficial pandering by the Irish Government has been exposed for what it is. Craven, hollow, cowardly.

It'm going to the protest outside the Irish Embassy in London today @ 4pm. The vast majority of Irish football fans do not want this to go ahead. FIFA, UEFA, the Irish government and the FAI have shown no moral clarity or backbone on this internationally important issue, it's time to embarrass them.
