EnsoI was completely taken aback when they decided that the evil conspirators behind this war weren't Belkans but actually Crypto Bros. Tying the cryptocurrency industry to the military industrial complex is something I NEVER thought Ace Combat would have the BALLS to do. And yet it makes perfect sense. A warhawk billionaire would love nothing more than to start a war, sell weapons to both sides, stay completely anonymous, and wipe their hands clean once the war is over. Keep the cash and just move to a new company. Project Aces has far, far more chutzpah than I gave them credit for.

DDYeah I was very surprised by my own reaction to DD. The more he spread his propaganda and dodged Pike's questioning of his allegiance, the more I hated his guts. But after Rosie gives him the business (and what a hilarious burn too), I saw he was slowly turning his ideals around. When it culminates in the Song of Wings in M30, I was like "ok he's still cringe, but he's at least endearing now," I couldn't help but crack a wry smile at him.

I am not the person to put this game's plot into words, at least not right now because you're right, it's so massive and dense. I did want to highlight one thing I wasn't expecting though.

spoilerI was legitimately impressed by the characterisation of D.D. I thought he was going to be the standard C-Suite dickhead but as the game unfolded he was revealed to be a lot more complex and ambiguous. Not a straight good guy but definitely not a straight corporate spook like I was expecting.

Also, The secret villain being a DAO was legitimately really surprising. I think the game did a good job of criticising the concept of a DAO even if it's one that is functioning conceptually as intended. Especially relevant because the concept of DAOs in the real world is just in its infancy.

I'm watching the credits as I type this.

SpoilerLook, it's absolutely incredible but so utterly intense. I really am going to need some tine to reflect and properly gather my thoughts. Defs a contender for series high point though.

I do love the fact that Rex is the first AC protagonist to be laid out by a sheep though.
