Chat GPT says rec.games.frp.traveller existed. I can't find an archive of it. It seems neither Eternal September nor Planet Usenet subscribe to it.

Google Groups bans it for some reason, which suggests it may have actually existed, as opposed to being an AI hallucination, but that's not conclusive.

Although I think there are some huge landmines in the road to this product, I also think it could bring a lot of people into the Traveller universe, and that could be very positive. Actually I believe that's the main reason they're doing it.

Oooh... I love Traveller but I think the D20 system is quite... bad.

Stubbornly, it's also frustrating that it sometimes feels like people refuse to learn systems that aren't Dungeons and Dragons and this seems like conceding to that point just to play a sci-fi game.

Is it possible that you like 1e more because it’s “done” and not being added to?

Genuine question, I haven’t used 1e very much but I can see how having it stable for decades might reduce mental overhead (if that makes sense).

Good numbers, rubber ducky. Ya wanna sort that angry kanga asap 'fore a twitchy Knievel hits ya with that disco. I can see that Alabama chrome's slippin', li'l bear. Pull your rig off at the next pickle park if ya need a hand, 4-10?

Interesting read, thanks. Can't imagine how this actually feels to play but it sounds fun. I love sci-fi but hate resource management stuff so I'd be wanting to play out individual actions more
