My friend just showed me Ersatz a couple of days ago and I LOVED IT. Love the theme and character design.
This short is my favorite, absolutely adore the design of the main guy
Have you seen Fido (2006)? Billy Connolly, Carrie-Anne Moss, Dylan Baker, Tim Blake Nelson, it’s a mashup of the old Lassie TV series and Night of the Living Dead, where zombies are domesticated and turned into free labor. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it brought up on horror forums so maybe it slipped through the cracks, idk.
I remember watching Fido and thinking this is a weird, Canadian film. Watched back to back when we rented it from the video store.
I wouldn't really say it's a horror film. Definitely a weird, early 2000 comedy film.
My favorites from that era were all horror-comedies. Leslie Vernon and Slither are good picks from this.

I remember watching Midnight Meat Train with my dad for one of our weekend Blockbuster rental nights. The premise and execution were so unintentionally funny, that we were cracking up watching it together. I'll have to revisit it, along with some others on the list. Nice find, thanks for sharing!
This article was really fun!
I only disagreed with one, Dead Silence, which I absolutely hated when I saw it in 2008-2009. I’m actually shocked it cost $20 million, until now I kinda thought it was comedy horror slop like Birdemic, which cost $10,000.
I will recommend in its place Thirteen Ghosts (2001), which is not good, but I always thought the ghost designs and lore were kind of cool and the design of the futuristic house worth seeing. Plus it’s got Matthew Lillard in it and I’m a big fan of his weirdness.

Presumably making this the highest-budget CC-BY-SA project.
i love vhs! each release gets a lower rating than the previous one, but I still enjoy them all. I cannot wait for an scp version!
Heck, most movies have parts that drag a bit or aren't as good as the rest of the movie. An anthology is broken up in a way where being the not so great part really stands out.
I'd say they have all been at least 50% or more entertaining which is about as good as one can expect from an anthology.
I just can't think of any I enjoyed all the way thru.
There always seemed to be at least one segment that seemed a little cheesy or just bad.
Still gonna watch the new one tho
I find the most of them very well done, with good acting, great effects and entertaining plots.
I think I've watched every V/H/S movie...
But I don't know if any of them have been good.
Undeniably some great segments, but going off memory I can't think of one entry in the series that overall averaged up to "good movie".
Oh wow, this is a great recommendation!
Just finished this movie, definitely some moments that caught me off guard.
If you want a hard time sleeping at night, I suggest this movie.
Indy is the only way to get original content anymore.
The movie was made for roughly $750,00, and has earned around $371 million (via Forbes) at the global box office.
Sadly, this is the only reason we may get good movies back...

Great to hear. I'm really looking forward to seeing it.
I saw this last night and it was pretty good! Great performances by great actors, interesting themes, good sets, good pacing. Just a great horror film all around. A24 staffed the team with veteran horror producers and gave Kane Parsons everything he needed to succeed with this film, and he sure did. Really pleased to see the success this movie is getting.
Weapons is a thriller not a horror.
“Nope” was a complete disappointment. It barely qualifies as horror. But “Talk To Me” creeped me the hell out.
The whole rights thing being a mess, I wonder what they can and cannot show/use. I was told they cannot do the lake map and certain characters. Not sure which.
Longlegs didn’t hit for me (did you see how short his legs were?!), but this is a fun list.
Was It Follows in this period? Also the first of the two movies with the break in of the blind guys home was really awful in good ways (don’t watch the sequel though imo).
I really really loved Barbarian. Weapons was good to, arguable having some better parts than Barbarian, but I liked Barbarian more as a whole.
Backrooms is simply amazing. A friend told me it tops Alien for them, which idk if I agree with but it certainly has stuck with me for days already.
Sorry for the ramble. This list was fun.
With a trailer like that who needs a movie?
