I had something similar happen when updating to One UI 6. Idle time on battery dropped from 2 weeks to 3 days.
The solution was to wipe system cache from recovery menu (God bless that random indian guy on YT).

I feel like the battery is still drained a bit faster than it did before, but at least idle time battery drain went back to previous state.

For sure there is more users than instances. So the amount of requests would be grater but at least they wouldn't happen at the same time.

But if fediverse ever grow to be as big as other social media, then a single post/link can be viewed by thousands of users at the same time causing the same effect.

I like its simple UI, I will probably give it a try at some point.

Protected apps — Google Play Services

Whether it's a fature is arguable... Isn't a warning better?

Btw. The most interesting feature I've seen in firewall app was: blocking all traffic, but showing a notification "X app tries to access internet" [Allow] [Block] [Allow once]

The Allow/Block options added it to white/black-list so the notification doesn't appear again.

But the "Allow once" option was the interesting part. It blocked by default, but when user choose to allow once it gained temporary permission to communicate over network. I don't remember if it allowed access for as long as the app stayed in foreground or just for some predefined time. Sadly after some app update it was removed and I never seen any other firewall implement that option since.

Is something like this outside of the scope of the project?

I have termux installed and running a  nslookup  command I could see it uses Google's 8.8.8.8 DNS server, which my DHCP is not sending.

By default Termux uses DNS form resolv.conf, not the DNS that android system uses.

    Also

    • giving file managers access to some directories that are normally not accessible to apps
    • detecting app crashes and getring full error message of what caused it
    • setting a language for a specific app (different from system language). Useful when app forces a shitty machine translation

    • Getting a proper error message when apk install fails,
    • installing apps designed for older Android versions,
    • downgrading to older app release
    • "Freezing" apps that i currently don't use

The only scenario where I see disabling downvotes as a good idea is when upvotes are disabled as well.

    So you either:

    • have only number of views (no up/down votes) so people don't chase virtual points
    • or there are both of them so that when combined they result in a fair rating.

Upvoting without downvoting doesn't show if people like it, nor whether it is good or bad. It only shows that it reached a lot of people and is popular. And that can be achieved with views alone.
