Fair point - but it’ll have to be adjacent roads. Pedestrianised zones with cycle lanes are infeasible.
It is an awful practice. I recently moved to Bucks from London and was perplexed why there is a cost to take certain items, with inherent value to the dump; old radiators, wood…? These inverse incentives probably lead to an increase in fly tipping.
Have to wonder why exactly. Centuries of continuity stripped away. Lame
Yeah, it's odd so many people are unaware the best way to keep the traffic flowing is to fill both lanes and merge at the end. Makes people livid.
I do wonder whether ‘protected designation of origin’ could apply to beer too. But alas, the brand is just commercial IP at the end of the day. Chewed up by the capitalist machine..
Molson-Coors not good for UK brewing, but the water in Burton-On-Trent is up there with the best (take your point on water being purified though).
Burton snatch anyone?
Sounds like a massive job. I just bought an old house and replacing the sprawling pipe layout would make me die inside. Luckily it has a newish thermal store for a biomass(!) boiler.
What we talking here? Solar? Battery? Heat pump?

Sorry! Some bugs in the bot are surfacing very old items from the website’s RSS feeds. Working on fixing it.
I do wonder at what point the cost becomes unjustifiable?
