I only watch an episode every 1-2 days, and I don't consider a paid VPN worth for torrent this little, neither I wanna torrent without one in this age.

After like 3-4 nights I spent trying different sites rather than watching, I'm considering just going without closed captions even if I don't understand everything.

Totally sucks if you ask me, it's getting a challenge to be a pirate lately

Sites with closed captions are a challenge to find; I've managed for a bit, and I found great ones.

However, now I'm trying to watch a show called Tokyo Vice where open subtitles aren't working, and I have to find Nova ones.

However, sites that have them don't work 99% of the time for this show; I've tried hundreds.

The frustration of not being able to watch a show and chill before bed is huge; this show I quoted isn't even available in my country.

So yeah... This was my rant.

That's the idea I've got lately. I used to have Spotify through a community that's been taken down; NewPipe/PipePipe has problems 5 days every month. I found a great site to watch shows with good CC thanks to this community, and a few days ago half the servers weren't working anymore, and the ones that are still working are slow, like unusable.

Is it just all a big coincidence, or is trying to make people exhausted a tactic?

This seems to truly rock. But what is their gain? I get they don't host any video and only gather media from the internet, but is someone really paying for the server and developing the site for charity purposes/because they're a nice person? I mean they don't have ads to support themselves. also what is the extension and febbox for? Btw, ty for the amazing discovery you let me have :)

I'm using hydra but it's a pain in the neck because you always have to find a server that works because they don't always (I even had a server having the next episode rather than the one I was supposed to watch yesterday), and then you have to hope they have English CC because sometimes they don't (have English language, shocking but happens), or sometimes the CC doesn't work altogether, or there isn't such a feature either. This takes 5-15 minutes all the time per episode, and even if it's free, it's annoying as hell.

Edit: let me be more precise, I love hydra, I just am wondering if there's something that works better by having reliable CC for English learners/second language speakers

it's actually mostly for tv shows, and maybe in the FUTURE games. The site I use for streaming is slow when I watch them in my native language, that's why torrent. I'm on a budget tho, I think it'll either be surfshark or fastestvpn. I realise now fastestvpn kinda sucks, but I think if I don't care about the speed it's really affordable (or f-secure if it's bundled with m365 again and if I still will need onedrive storage, maybe not).

I appreciate you explained how port forwarding works (really ^^), like you I can also deal with not having it especially because for a bit my wallet is tight.

is port forwarding only for speed? I think I've got some confusion, can I torrent with proton free for casual usage?

Edit: I read on reddit they block torreting so okay, my question is still valid though. I've got a vpn bundled with an antimalware I can probably use but it's the same story, (I doubt over here they'll catch me torrenting) but does the vpn need to be specifically designed for torreting?

  • Is fastestvpn good? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

I was considering buying their lifetime subscription at the end of this month, but all the bots posting reviews and commenting on Reddit don't help.

I heard about this VPN in one of my recent threads here, and I believe Lemmy is cleaner than Reddit, so here I am, ready to read what you think about the service.

Would you use it to torrent? I said I only needed to watch movies, but eventually the stuff I watch is in a "niche" language, and the sites are overcrowded, so downloading from torrent is probably the best way (at the moment I'm downloading from the streaming sites through an app and Proton, but it's getting a bit slow).

^ It's not even Proton that's the problem; it's the sites that are slow as heck, and downloading an episode each evening sometimes is too much of a PITA. (while watching it like a normal user, well after dinner is basically a 1-minute wait every 10-15 seconds or something like that)

I'm more worried about the last point than the first. Stuff like Proton VPN wouldn't respond to a law enforcement subpoena? If you mean buying illegal things such as drugs I don't care; I'd use it for movies. I worry if this VPN may be good for pirating games even though I don't have plans to do that right now. I wonder if such a solution is better than an antimalware VPN?

Their life plan seems like a perfect solution, and if they don't have antivirus VPN bundled with M365 on Amazon Black Friday, or if you believe this isn't the best solution, that lifetime VPN may be good.

My country never cared about this, but recently some people started getting fines. I generally pay for my games; I only use ReVanced and watch TV shows online.

What would be the cheapest VPN in the long run for this? As I said, I don't torrent, so port forwarding and stuff like that I don't care about.

There's also antimalware software bundled with the M365 subscription on Amazon; I've been using the VPN from that for a bit now.

Edit: Btw, do you think an antimalware VPN is safe? It's never been a problem (never like the USA, for example) over here in the EU, but recently they started slightly hunting pirates (never heard of anyone I know though). So yeah, maybe a simple VPN may suffice until they decide to go hardcore style?

Since spotify starting playing cat and mouse with revanced and xmanager users I tried Youtube Music. On PC I use spotx for spotify but I'm starting to enjoy ytm more and more, and I'm wondering if there's something similar to listen to it on PC.

If possible, something that's well known and considered safe.

Edit: I think there's the website with ublock, but does it work well?
