Kris Lindahl is regarded in Minnesota about the same as a cryptid. Nobody quite knows where he came from or who he even is but his face is EVERYWHERE. He owns 600+ billboards throughout Minnesota and supposedly has started putting them up in other states as well.

Some examples of Kris Lindahl sightings:

Billboard 2 billboards on top of each other another billboard

This picture was taken TODAY! ^^

He doesn't just limit to only putting up billboards either...

Kris Lindahl on a train

At one point, another realtor put up a similar ad in a completely different place:

Spot the difference challenge

And Kris Lindahl SUED THE GUY FOR TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT!! (It was thrown out by a judge)

He's so prolific in Minnesota that there are actual news articles written about him from our local stations and newspapers:

It even made the news when his billboards left the city with the article Kris Lindahl’s Billboards Spotted In Colorado

Parody billboards have even started to go up to make fun of this man. Most notably:

Look how long my arms are

At one point a suburban teen invited him to his graduation party and as a response Kris Lindahl put up a billboard to congratulate the teen: Teen standing in front of Lindahl sign

Now... All of this is funny on its face but I'd like to end this by introducing everyone to the best example of this entire phenomenon... Long Lindahl

Long Lindahl

This community is an offshoot of r/ToiletPaperUSA over on the other platform so a lot of the culture surrounding this media is likely to be shared, however, that doesn't mean we have to match them exactly.

To start off, I'd like to open a discussion on rules and what we would consider good for the community and it's growth/sustainability. We want to make good memes that people want to see but we also don't want people to think the terrible fake quotes we are coming up with are real because that diminishes the impact of the ACTUAL terrible things that right wing grifters actually say. Unfortunately, as of writing, Lemmy doesn't support tagging a post. For that reason, I think it would be best to implement a naming system [REAL] or [FAKE] depending on which it is. We can let the conservatives talk themselves into a corner instead of spreading misinformation.

Another rule to bring up is the Meme Weekends that r/ToiletPaperUSA does. This restricts weekend posting to ONLY fake TPUSA memes and doesn't allow tweets or anything during the weekend. I wouldn't mind implementing this as well but I'm a bit more hesitant on it. On one hand I do feel it would help with the general quality of the community but on the other hand, a small community needs an active group of posters in order to take off. Unless the community votes in favor of sticking with this, I think it would be best to ignore it until the community is self sustaining.

On the note of quality content, I don't think anyone will disagree with banning low effort content. The example they use is a red eyed Ben Shapiro saying "When someone says 'FEELINGS'". That kind of post can work but I think its best for a dedicated Lemmy shitposting community instead.

All rules like bigotry and fascism go without saying. I'm not allowing any of that stuff here.
