The saying, "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" comes to mind. She seems like the type of person that could go off the deep end due to having her feelings hurt

Yeah, realizing that if number one worry for one is privacy, reddit might be more private which is kinda backwards. Most private of course to not use any at all.

Aside, kinda going for the worry about server admins being funny. It is funny to find the server admin of the server I joined commenting on my question about privacy on a community they don't follow. I'll give you the benefit of doubt, you are most likely tech enthused dev who follows these communities through some feeds or something, but still, funny.

I thought about those or just making one use email, but decided not to want the hassle. After a lot of thinking about it, I don't consider this to be that major of a privacy threat. I just used an old email reserved for trash that probably can't connect to me.

yeah, realized this after I already clicked the unsubscribe all button... Well, no harm, after discovering the community list, joining the interesting subs was easy enough. Much more manageable now.

New to fediverse. Joined mostly because reddit has been annoying me for a while for it's algorithm use and general admin stuff. Joining piefed was still a big leap since I have some interest in privacy and security on the internet and joining anonymous server felt a bit suss. Some stranger somewhere would have my email and be able to monitor everything I do and say.

Now, of course reddit does the same and I had no problem (well a little problem) with it. They not only have the data, but they also use it to advertise to me and most definitely sell the data forward. Still, there is a difference on a company with a public leadership whose names are known, and who have to follow laws and mark down their privacy notice publicly. If a server admin gets funny with the data, I'm shit out of luck.

Well I joined so obviously I accepted the trade of but came here to see what others thought. Surprised there was not a discussion about this already.

That is my recommendation for future development as well. I'm fine, I know this is the nature of open source systems, sometimes they are just scuffed on some parts. For new more casual users, there is a good chance the would turn around immediately when they see this mess.

That is something at least. Have to think about it, I do like some of these communities and re joining is also a hassle but it might be less trouble than clearing this mess of communities

Hi. I'm new, obviously, don't know if this is wrong place but anyway. On joining, I was asked my likes, I assumed I would be recommended communities to follow. Instead I was auto-joined to what feels like hundreds of communities. It will take me ages to go to a community one at the time to unsubscribe. Any way to mass delete?

As an aside if devs are here, horrible design to autojoin people. Might be of course a feature of the server I joined but if the piefed software pushes for this, just horrible. At least should be a page showing all the communities you would join and ability to toggle them there or remove all.
