Anti-authoritarian rallies, taking place in all 50 states plus 16 countries, are expected to be biggest in US history

Millions of Americans are expected to take to the streets on Saturday for the No Kings protests against the Trump administration. More than 3,000 events are planned in all 50 states, plus in 16 countries, according to a coalition of organizers that includes “anti-authoritarian” groups Indivisible and 50501, labor unions and other grassroots organizations.

“I would expect March 28 to be the biggest protest in American history,” said Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible.

Saturday’s protest will be the third No Kings; the last one in October drew 7 million people nationwide. A “flagship” event will be held in Minnesota’s Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St Paul, in recognition of residents’ resistance to the surge of Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents that descended on the cities this winter. The St Paul rally will feature Senator Bernie Sanders, actor Jane Fonda and musicians Bruce Springsteen and Joan Baez.

I'm so proud of my town (though I'm not gonna dox it/myself here).

Hundreds of people in a rural area showed up for the last No Kings, far more than apparently anybody was expecting. For many of us, it was our first time. I've met the organizers, just local groups working together, most of the people involved are working class folks dedicating their own free time and had little or no experience with organizing protests or rallies before.

I braved it last time. Had no idea what to expect. I was actually anxious going in. But here's the thing, it was enjoyable. Lots of like-minded people and it was a safe space. People were having fun. Many of us were meeting new friends.

And I was shocked at some of the people who showed up that I knew. I had always assumed they were staunch conservatives. Some of them are. But they showed up with signs and cheered, too.

Really hoping that today is even better. I think that's part of the point: Getting people comfortable with exercising their rights and giving community builders the chance to learn first hand how to organize. That's a fantastic thing.

What about their article about it from yesterday? Or last month when it started to get widely picked up on social media? The Guardian isn’t this “garbage media”. They’re a small -mid size company that doesn’t do what most of us complain about the big corporation media.

I like the strawman you set up. I'm neither "under the hood" nor right-wing by any Overton window you want to choose. But one of the community guidelines is that advocating violence is not allowed, so I'm removing your comment.

So after this summer, the food shortage caused by Trump will make it near impossible for you to find food in your van on the side of the road in Texas. You’re probably going to die of starvation related illness.

Have the day you moderated for.

    The temp ban suggests otherwise.

You banned an account. Not a person. That’s not power.

At some point you’re going to realize you have no power over me, or anyone else.

I can ban as quickly as you can create accounts. You get a month.
