I can say this much, this time and in 2016, America didn't elect a leader, but they elected a distilled extract of the modern American ethos. A caricature of their worst qualities. Doesn't mean those tendencies didn't exist normally, but they are well reflected in this senile old man.

Sure, there's always been corruption, and sure, Trump is more brazen about it. But you're leaving out context when you fail to mention that the scale and regularity of the corruption is an order of magnitude bigger with Trump in office. People trying to normalize him can eat shit.
Oh man this is some bullshit.
The country and the world are bad right now it’s the worst we’ve ever seen it because of Trump and co, not because of Biden, Obama, Clinton or Carter.
That's some shortsighted bullshit...
But in fairness to most Middle East governments, they're only in power because corrupt US presidents put them there at some point.
So 60 years feels like "forever", only because they never knew what their grandparents had.
For Qatar it's only been about 30 years tho, but the 20 years before that was the same deal but with the Brits.
I do want to give Qatar props for a "bloodless" coup where instead of US military they used the US financial system.
In response to the coup, Khalifa bin Hamad called his son an "ignorant man" and proclaimed that he was still the legitimate ruler,[1] while Hamad bin Khalifa engaged an American law firm to freeze his father's bank accounts abroad in order to deter a possible counter-coup.[3]

Not even being sarcastic, it saved a lot of lives to attack his dad's money instead of trying to control a physical area.
