and the other shuffles around pedophiles.

That's both of them, actually.

Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, Presbys, Pentacostals, which one are we referring to again? "Evangelical" is just a grouping of protestant religions that have many differences despite their commonalities.

Half of these differences are in church organizational structure and the other half are in theological disagreements so irrelevant and obscure that your average church-goer would struggle to articulate the differences. "Evangelical" (as opposed to "mainline") is a useful grouping because it includes denominations that are inclined towards proselytism, and that generally informs their politics. People often shuffle between different evangelical denominations/churches as well, so the borders between them are not as clearly defined as one might think.

Sure, and yet still people just say "christians" or "christianity" when criticising the religion despite those differences/similarities, not even separating evangelical and mainline most often.

Saying the word "muslim" isn't as clearly racist as the other poster is attempting to accuse me of (despite it being his comment that mentioned muslims specifically and prompted my question, he seems to believe I just hauled off and started attacking them unprompted.)
