Stogner said she felt the mailers — which were marketed as a resource guide for LGBTQ+ students from the Texas Transgender Student Union, a group recently formed in Wyoming — were an obvious bid to agitate voters ahead of the November midterm elections.

“If this ends up being legal, it is everything that is wrong with our current political climate,” Stogner said.

The mailers, addressed to the “student” of the household, include sections encouraging youth to speak with a “safe adult” or one of several advocacy groups if their parents don’t support their identity. The mailers say parents’ don’t need to be involved with a student’s transgender identity and include a section about emancipation, when a minor becomes legally recognized as an adult.

☝ from another Texas Tribune article linked to from the first.

Did a little digging and found the other side of the mailer in another article from CBS

other side of the mailer

All of the information in there seems to be realistically trying to deal with the fact that a lot of trans kids have abusive parents who would rather see them dead than transition. It all seems very reasonable and appropriate to the situation. The fact that the contents of this mailer are causing death threats and legal action is insane. From the mailer:

you don't need to have everything figured out

you don't have to know whether you're definitely trans

you don't have to decide about hormones or surgery right now

you don't have to convince your parents

your job right now is to stay safe, find people who will listen to you, and give yourself time to figure out who you are.

All of that is extremely healthy and supportive messaging and TBH I don't think it's a false flag set up to make conservatives vote harder. I think it's real and the obfuscation is to protect the identities of the people who sent it.

I support everything said in these pamphlets and I hope some of them got into the hands of some young people who need to see them

Not to mention the mailer is clearly targeted at older teenagers, emancipation only applies to 16- and 17-year-olds anyway.

The single best reason I've heard for why these are fake (regardless of how helpful and supportive the information may be for the target audience) is that the organization they are attributed to says they didn't send them, and is starting legal action to find out who did.

The word that's there to get everyone riled up is "takeover". Setting aside that the real organization says they didn't send these, such an organization would never use the phrase "Trans Texas Takeover" in a mailer to random Texans.

Given the number of mailers sent out, this was millions of dollars in spending to send mailers to people many who don’t even have children.

This was absolutely a false flag executed by Republicans, I have no idea how you can think otherwise.
