I have neither freedom nor privacy. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 7 child comments replies: [–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago (6 children) Well, then others made that decision for you. If you like Mac or not stopped mattering then 😉 Luckily in these few times I tried working, I had the choice. Would've quit if there were privacy - concerns, though I might be a bit picky with my data... permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 6 child comments replies: [–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 1 point 2 weeks ago (5 children) I will ad that lately people working on Limux Machines has become much more common. However, they still make me do the demos because every screen sharing app works on my Mac, no matter what the client is using. (Plus I’m good at demos.) permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 5 child comments replies: [–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 1 point 2 weeks ago (4 children) Well of course they work on Mac. It's a closed system, a walled garden of compability. Its main selling-point for the technically challenged. I would not really see that a a benefit though, as it's merely a symptom of an illness, even if inherently not bad by itself. If one doesn't care, then there's no problem at all and mac wins. Same as windows and android. Then it comes down to taste in UI or favourite tools. Or even "the brand" for the intellectually challenged. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 1 point 2 weeks ago (3 children) So things working is an illness. If computers are healthy and free things don’t work. Got it. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 3 child comments replies: [–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 1 point 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children) As said, it all depends on the foundation if you value your data/freedom or not. If not, then fine, everything ia great. But many of us do to one extent or another. And then it's pretty obvious. It's not the working that is the illness, but the reason it does. I like when shit just works, I juggle 20 machines at home 😁 permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 1 point 2 weeks ago (1 child) It’s not my data or freedom, it’s my employer’s. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 1 point 2 weeks ago OK, then you, personally, are kinda safe-ish if you never do personal stuff on your work-machine. Fine. But most apple products are in private hands, not a mandated work-tool people can't escape. permalink fedilink source parent
