Right? There are any number of benign reasons that that image/footage could have been momentarily displayed. Could have been a promo of the American Military's history fighting in WW2. Could have been a political ad comparing Biden to Hitler or something (distasteful, but still relatively benign).

Like don't get me wrong, the Republican party grows ever closer to a MAGA-themed Nazism part 2, but they aren't that tone def as a whole yet. The absolute least likely reason for that screenshot is that they literally just had a Hitler rally speech in German playing in the background for the ambience. Let's be serious here and shit on the Republicans for the shit they actually do, not for unfortunate/ironic images with no actual context.

I'm not sure I agree. I firmly believe that there's plenty of Republican conventions where they'd unironically play a clip from a Hitler speech. But I don't believe this is showing that because the source is nowhere to be found.

I don't trust random screenshots with text slapped on for easy social media sharing even if they support my preconceived opinions.

I dont think there is a single Republican convention that has press present that would unironically play Hitler speeches. Behind closed doors, in the boys clubs, almost certainly. But they are still playing with dog whistles most of the time and pushing parallel policies mostly under the guise of sensibility, not actual out and out racism (normally). Many of their electorate are fully masks off more. The politicians aren't so stupid as to go fully mask off while they rely on independents for elections.

On the main stage that's getting recorded, for sure. I saw some wild stuff on screen in breakout sessions during my convention AV days...people think they can get away with anything and for the most part, they were right.

they're killing+disappearing civilians, built concentration camps, ignore the courts and support people who say they unironically love Hitler. ignoring all the public nazi salutes and quoting Hitler or Goebbel, what does it take to believe its fascism?

It is fascism. There's nothing to believe. It's just fact. That doesn't mean that they were actually playing hitler's speech. Those are two different things. Also i have already found the video and confirmed that they weren't. Again, shit on them for the real nazi shit they do. Like the concentration camps Don't make up bullshit.

How much more context is needed for hitler at the gathering of a political party? There's nothing unfortunate or ironic about this, this is not an accidental YouTube Autoplay, this has been deliberately chosen and played there. And it's not the first time that they've been associated with Nazi symbolics. Musk, Ingraham, the young republican leaks, the whole debate around the cpac stage?

Okay, you could somehow excuse Ingraham and the CPAC stage, and find some weird explanation for this bullshit too. But isn't it a fucking strange coincidence that so many political parties worldwide somehow manage to stay clear of Nazi symbols and imagery, and somehow there are five examples just from the top of my head for them?

Dude. First of all, I found the video where it is from. It is very brief (like 2 or 3 seconds) and it is clearly edited videos clips. It shows the flag poles with swastika, a brief shot one second of Hitler talking, and then it cut to some weird green looking space that doesn't seem have anything to do with Hitler. It was absolutley not just a video playing a Hitler speech for the room. And of course it wasn't.

Second, You and I both just had images of Hitler on our screens looking at this meme. Does that mean we are admiring Hitler? Many Americans, including myself, have watched a ton of World War 2 media in my life. I have seen this exact speech footage referenced in any number of movies, tv shows, documentaries, and political ads in my life. I am very familiar familiar this footage, as are the majority of Americans, and most of us have never intentionally watched the Hitler speak just to watch him speak. The fact that she existed in the presence of an image of Hitler on a TV for a single screenshot means absolutely nothing.

Again, there are real reasons to shit on Republicans, and including this one, Ashley Hinson. She is pulling the same MAGA anti-DEI, pro-war, anti-abortion, pro-DOGE shit as all the rest. She is certainly far closer in politics to Hitler than I am sure she would ever admit. But don't be stupid and jump on a single contextless image that turns out to be nothing as your anger generator. Focus on substance, character, and actions.
