One of U.S. President Donald Trump's trade advisers is threatening repercussions for Canada if it "interferes" in the upcoming midterm elections — though it's not clear what he anticipates the country would do to impact the vote.

Framing canada as an enemy is further justification for tarrifs etc. No one who understands what lobbying is thinks this behavior is untoward. But that doesn't matter, it's not like anything is based in logic.
