A 22-year-old San Antonio man was arrested and charged with a felony after investigators say he used an AI chatbot to plan a mass shooting at a local elementary school, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the San Antonio Express-News

Nathaniel Michael Carrasco, of San Antonio, was using an Anthropic AI chatbot on Aug. 11 when he began discussing plans to obtain a firearm and carry out the attack at Serna Elementary School, near his home.

“I’m getting a gun as soon as I can, and when Serna Elementary starts, I’m just gonna walk in there and start shooting up kids,” Carrasco wrote in one prompt, according to the Express-News.

not to mention the positive would be fleeting as if this is a thing to a great enough extent then would be perpetrators simply will not discuss such things with a chatbot.

That's a little optimistic. Criminals do lots of stupid things that get them caught. Even the ones that think they're "too clever to be caught."

it just is. criminals that are to stupid to get caught won't need ai to get caught. its like anything else. so it won't go away as a thing that happens as long as its around but it won't necessary catch someone who would have successfully went through with it.
