MKBHD is a tech youtuber (maybe the biggest?) who normally uses a Mac, but he got a Framework 13 Pro with Ubuntu and has been using it for a few weeks now.

Framework and their nazi-enveloping tent

Can someone kindly explain this part or send a reference? I’ve missed this one.

    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Controversy-erupts-over-Framework-s-backing-of-alleged-divisive-open-source-figures.1135468.0.html

Tl;dr: they give (gave?) money to omarchy, a DHH project (the RubyOnRails and Basecamp guy) who has made a fairly rapid descent from cringey tech bro to mealy-mouthed nationalist.

    give (gave?) money to omarchy

From my understanding, they donated a laptop to DHH, and when the community discovered it, Framework told everyone they are a "big tent", angering a lot of people (who are mad that FW is okay with financing individuals who want them and/or others dead, and rightly so)

I believe most people are angry about Framework's response to the whole ordeal, if Nirav apologised instead of holding his ground I don't think it would've been as controversial.

Yeah, I conflated it with the hyperland funding from the same thread

The big tent pitch was weaselly and weak. I assume they were actually unaware of his politics when they gave him the social media plug. But NRP doubled-down indicating it was his preferred distro for "productivity" in that thread.

I'm not sure why they would send a multimillionaire hardware when he spends his own money on much more expensive things.
