Thimbleweed Park Review: Far more than just a retro throwback to the early SCUMM days, Thimbleweed Park is a great murder mystery with so many interesting story threads and oddball characters that you will gladly accept excessive backtracking... (adventuregamehotspot.com)

Yeah it's been a few years since I played it but I can't remember having to do that.

AFAIK there's nothing stopping you on rubbing every item ever on the thing

I did hastily search what the puzzle was, found this gamefaqs walkthrough: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/189927-thimbleweed-park/faqs/74655

spoilerShe [Delores] was given a BALLOON ANIMAL with instructions to watch the Kickstarter video. If you were a project backer and/or you watched that initial pitch video that Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick put out, you were probably laughing about this as much as I was.

In any case, head all the way back to where it began -- to the CORPSE in the river by the bridge. It's poetic and a little bit cheesy, but hey. USE the BALLOON ANIMAL on the corpse and the game will start "glitching." Soon you'll be in the Wireframe World.

anyway, it's just the "reliance" on out-of-game media that rubs me wrong. I don't expect KS to keel over tomorrow, but it requires internet to check. This could be a pretty hefty speedbump for someone playing the game on eg. steamdeck and not having any kind of internet access, etc.
