There are ways of using cryptography to make it guaranteed to be totally private. But secure methods like this haven't actually been ever used by any governments, as far as I can tell. They opt instead for the privacy-invading face scans or ID verification or something like that

    Its still overly invasive. Its more secure for me to not send any information as an adult than to send something cryptographically

    Fair enough, though I do think there social media needs to be regulated in some capacity. There seems to be a lot of pushback against age verification here. That's fine, but we should try to offer up alternatives. Right now public support is really high for age verification in Canada (about 70% according to a recent poll iirc) so I think doing nothing is just not politically sustainable. Politicians are going to respond to this public sentiment with regulation, so we should try to direct them in the right direction, towards whatever type of regulation the people feel comfortable with
