Screenshot of an opinion article by Wes Streeting titled "Ignore the smears: I was never a close friend of Peter Mandelson. And I fully understand the lessons we must learn" with the subheading "I knew him but not well, and worry now that he thrived in our political culture. It was not just failed vetting: there was a failure of moral seriousness". Below that is a link saying "Streeting wrote off his re-election chances in WhatsApp exchanges with Mandelson". This is posted to Bluesky by @carolinepennock.bsky.social‬, adding "This is the funniest headline I seen in a long time. And bravo to whoever underlined the desperation with the juxtaposed link." @slurmsmackenzie.bsky.social then quote posts this, adding an edited version of the article with Yogi Bear with heading Ignore the smears: I was never going to steal that pic-a-nic basket and eat the delicious food Ranger Smith had made for lunch" and the subheading "Quite frankly it is insulting to suggest that Boo-Boo and I would do such a thing." The follow up link was also changed to "WhatsApp messages reveal that Yogi Bear messaged Boo-Boo to say "are you ready to steal the absolute fuck out of that pic-a-nic basket, Boo-Boo?"

Fellow yank, but it's basically a low level politician desperate to save his career in politics after he got burned for riding on the coattails of somebody who has been more or less proven to be deeply corrupted. But the recommended link appears to show he knew of the guys corruption, so he's pretty much screwed.

That's my take at least, so if anybody knows more feel free to correct me!
