Some work silliness this week had me laughing. Somehow my coordinator made the OneDrive public and students had access to everything. Grades, exams, etc. Coordinator was in a panic. IT called it as it is: only the group owner could do that. There was only one group owner. It had to be them. Students were mostly smart. Didn't open a single file, they might have downloaded or copied. But then some student hit delete on the master grades file haha. We recovered it. I thought it was hilarious. Everyone else is flustered. Then we found out that... About 40 students had been in the group. Lucky for us, we haven't prepared any exams yet.

    Hazelnut Hex is super cool...

Technically had the week off, procrastinated a lot, played Cotton Reboot High Tension a bunch.

Big hurt this week losing Patrick Stewart.

Lacking enthusiasm to return to work next week because I'll be so damn busy.

Don't know what Halloween will be like here because of the strikes. They are planning evening strikes today and it looks like the right wing militias are planning to patrol the streets. France isn't big on trick-or-treating so we won't miss much.

I've had kind of a busy week, traveling for work so I didn't play much. Looking forward to settling in with some Salamander III. I've had the Gradius collection for months but never really got stuck in.

My picks from that list are Cotton and Silver Bullet. I still need to get around to playing Deathsmiles. I tried the Angel an Dusk demo. Really cool game, but I'll circle back. The other ones were already on my wishlist.

A little Touhou news, but about a tabletop RPG:

Gensou Narratograph: The Roleplaying Game Based on Touhou supports up to four players and one game master. LionWing describes the game as combining "cozy slice-of-life storytelling with Danmaku Duels inspired by the franchise's bullet-hell confrontations.”

That sounds kinda fun, not that I could get a group together for it, heh!

It's an appropriate header image to use for this post, because I've spent the past week or so playing Deathsmiles. Struggling with the difficulty spike that is the final level, but I can see why it's always a top recommendation for beginners because the rest of the game is easy to learn.

I started this month trying out the Alltynex trilogy (Alltynex Second, RefleX, KAMUI) on Steam. These games surprised me because I've not seen them talked about much, but each one has a unique graphical style and set of gameplay mechanics, and it makes each of them worth playing today. If you like RayForce and RayStorm then there's a lot to enjoy here.

I feel no shame admitting that I gave in and bought Cotton Reboot! High Tension and even with the Switch 1 slowdown it is fun to play.

I only had to give 3 classes this week, two of them were remote because of a storm and the other one was a 3-hour test. I spent some of my free time fixing my blog.

More strikes today in France and elsewhere. Be safe folks, remember to use passwords only on your phones (no biometrics)...

If I had any type of console like this, I don't think I would leave the house without it. Same goes for emulation in general. I would sit and play all the old games I played when I was a kid. It's the main reason I don't have any emulators on computers.

New to this platform, I was kind of expecting there to be more people. Any suggestions on active communities on here? Also, thank you to whomever accepted my request for a profile.

The Last House is scary but not too much, great for a 10 year old. My daughter loves the Hubie Halloween movies. Coraline is another she loves. There's always Nightmare before Christmas, admittedly not terribly frigtrning. Labyrinth and The Neverending Story might work but they're more fantasy than horror.

Nice week I guess. I taught 8 classes and supervised one exam instead of teaching 10 lessons.

Today is big strike day in France. Almost 2000 strikes across the country. I'm sure the news will focus on burning dumpsters rather than police violence or the fact that they also authorized neo-nazi marches in some cities today. The demands are acceptable. The media isn't reporting enough on that though.

    Anyway.

Held off on buying any new games for another week. That's good because I see that Cotton Reboot High Tension is releasing soon in my region on the eshop. Almost bought Shockwave Triggers and one of those cozy sim games (Witch's Bakery) but there was a day the internet was out in my street which ended up being a good thing.

While I'm here, what are some good scary movies for 10 year-olds?

My son is obsessed with horror, so I need some ideas.

I've been pretty busy this week, but I've kicked off a Dragon's Dogma 2 playthrough on the Switch 2. Most of that time has been spent in the character creator, lol.

Mostly too busy for games. Warrior Blade was on sale so I got that. It is part of the Rastan saga and filled with lots of fun ideas for a mythical Conan-ish beat-'em-up like a rather impressive horse riding stage, a dragon riding stage, a surfing like that one level in Turtles in Time, optional routes, and really nice sprites and animation presented in widescreen à la Darius II.

I got roped into a situation at work not unlike the one mentioned in the most recent Honkology video where I was tasked with making spreadsheets for every teacher I work with for each class they teach. And renaming them. And getting them on (effing) Teams. And then concatenating a bunch of audio files. Then fixing PDF files. This, I suppose, is what being the resident Millennial means? I will bill them for the extra time, but my managers are the ones getting the thanks.
