Color is definitely a wavelength. The names we give colors like “yellow” or “blue” are massive ranges of wavelengths. That’s the problem here… the ball can be both green and yellow because no body asked if it was yellow-green, they only gave a binary option: “is a tennis ball yellow or green”. It’s neither. It’s between the two.

    The technique, known as decorrelation stretch, is used to enhance contrasts in digital imagery. It was first developed by researchers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in 1978 to improve the interpretation of high-correlation remote sensing and satellite imagery.

    To find out which colors can help maximize your home's value, Zillow's 2026 Paint Color Analysis report surveyed over 4,400 recent and prospective home buyers on how interested they were in buying a home based on the color of its bedroom, kitchen, living room, and bathroom. The company found that while neutrals are a staple, playing with color can ultimately pay off in the long run.

    "White will always be a timeless, versatile choice, but sellers who default to all-white walls everywhere may be leaving money on the table," said Amanda Pendleton, Zillow's home trends expert, in a press release. "Buyers today respond to homes with soul, and paint is one of the easiest, most affordable ways to add personality and character to a space. The right colors can stop a shopper mid-scroll and instantly create an emotional connection, which ultimately drives higher offers."

    Somewhat similar thing, this is what I came up with to quantize to 12-bit-RGB (shorthand hexadecimal, e.g. #AC3 --> #AACC33) in a Godot shader:

    COLOR = vec4((round(color.r * 15.0) / 15.0), (round(color.g * 15.0) / 15.0), (round(color.b * 15.0) / 15.0), color.a);

    Maybe there's a better way (I'm wasn't sure how to see actual numbers, other than knowing it's linear color space) but it works. For example it takes #135531 in a bit of AA (between label outlines) and turns it to #115533.

    Okay interesting. At first I misunderstood the whole thing and then when I got it I didn't immediately notice it. But after staring (and checking with a color picker) I can confirm that there's a color difference of the other dots. But its really subtle at first and I didnt even notice it consciously.
