While Becker voted to advance the bill, he emphasized in an interview that his support hinges on significant changes that would need to be made to the legislation before it comes back to the Senate for a final vote

"I will not vote on this bill on the way back unless the radius has changed"

The bill also proved divisive in Palo Alto, where City Council member Pat Burt described the prior version of the bill as a “one-size-fits-all” proposal that takes the “chainsaw to local zoning.”

“We’re talking about 55 feet and 5 stories by right without any parking requirements in an Eichler neighborhood” Burt said at an April meeting, referring to Eichler neighborhoods in south Palo Alto that are within half a mile of the San Antonio Caltrain station.

It's a much smaller event from its prior incarnations, only 3,000 tickets over 3 days, vs over 100,000 attendees previously.

The rebooted event will be held at Gilroy Gardens.

Didn’t see this one posted yet! Apparently shooting for a new movie, “The Invite.”

Seth Rogen and Olivia Wilde rode BART for hours Tuesday afternoon, right in the middle of rush hour. Rolling between Glen Park Station and Daly City, the Hollywood A-listers blended right in with actual passengers on their way home from work.

“I’m a regular commuter,” Rogen told The Standard as he headed down the escalator and onto a BART train.

errrr "bike to wherever" day, but I think it's okay if you bike to work. For those of us with working bikes and a desire to herd like zebras, sponsored way stations are scattered throughout the Bay: https://www.bayareabiketowork.com/event-information/energizer-stations

Point of Infinity (lemmy.world)

Point of Infinity by Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto was installed on the top of Yerba Buena Island in 2023. It also acts as a sun dial! Pretty cool. Never spent much time on Yerba Buena or Treasure Island, but went on a clear day and the views were killer. Cool little restaurant called Mer-Sea was nice to have lunch at. Bizarre seeing all the new tall apartment complexes being built. Right on top of where I saw Justice at Treasure Island Music Fest...

Whatup Yay Areaaaa. Been fiddling around on Lemmy and trying to understand the Fediverse. Feeling very old in the process, ha. I'm enjoying it for the most part. Though modern life has gotten me used to the firehose of content that comes at you on Reddit et al.

Super glad to call this place home. Life ain't normal but it does feel like we have this shell of insulation from immediate danger here. I mean, I'm not naive, a lot of the power and wealth is literally here fucking shit up but we've got a lot of good folks who care, so that's nice.

This year, I want to check out a Ballers game. Maybe road trip through the coastal redwoods. Focus on local action and community. Do garbage walks around the neighborhood. Whatcha getting up to? I mean in addition to surviving and whatnot. I wish you tasty tacos in your future.

The best part is that if you turn off amber alerts on your phone since you’re home all day, these ones still come through.
