Hey folks. I built filmdilemma.com in my spare time because I was sick of scrolling through streaming apps trying to decide what to watch.

It lets you search around 29k movies with actual filters, genre, theme, mood, actor, director, year, rating, instead of just a genre dropdown. There is a quick pick tool called the Dilemma Solver if you just want an answer without thinking too hard, and a free AI chat called The Fixer that can find a movie from a description even if you do not remember the title. It also gives you similar movie suggestions, curated lists, trending movies, critic reviews on movie pages, and watchlists and ratings where you can import your IMDb history.

Whole thing is free, no ads, nothing locked behind a paywall. Would genuinely appreciate anyone giving it a try and telling me what is missing or annoying.

Hi everyone,

I am writing to share a comprehensive personal project that I have been developing independently called the Reddit Neographical Unicode Registry (RNUR).

Project Overview

RNUR is a specialized, open-source structural framework engineered specifically for font designers, conlangers, and neography enthusiasts. The core purpose of this registry is to establish a centralized, organized mapping layout that assigns standardized blocks for custom, constructed writing systems.

The Technical Challenge

When working with custom scripts and font engineering, digital preservation can get highly unorganized. Creators often assign their unique glyphs to random, overlapping private registry spaces. RNUR solves this issue by implementing a structured 16-plane Unicode registry system. This matrix allows independent developers and language creators to coordinate, claim blocks, and format their custom script data safely without conflicting with other digital architectures or crashing font metrics.

Current Status and Goals

Everything in this project—from the underlying repository architecture to the layered, multi-symbol visual identity—has been built using highly accessible tools like Paint.NET.

Right now, I am operating as the sole contributor and maintainer of the registry. However, the long-term vision is to transition this framework into a collaborative community standard. I am currently looking to connect with other technical minds who are passionate about typography, script layout, and data management to eventually form a governance group.

If you have an interest in custom writing systems, Unicode Private Use Area management, or font development, I would appreciate your feedback on the repository layout.

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share a project I've been working hard on called Zen Vault. It’s a daily mood journal and habit tracker built using Flutter.

The core philosophy behind it is keeping your private thoughts private. Your journal entries and data stay completely local on your device. (Note: The app is local-first, though it does use anonymous Firebase analytics purely to help me track performance and squash bugs).

You can check it out on the Play Store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rcpc.zen_vault

A few things I focused on:

  • A Complete Free Tier: I explicitly designed the free version to be incredibly robust. I want people to genuinely love and use the app without ever feeling forced to buy a premium subscription just to get basic utility.

  • Mindful Design: I put a lot of love into making the UI clean, distraction-free, and beautiful.

  • Grounding Features: It includes calming mini-games (like digital bubble popping and constellation drawing) to help you destress before you log your day.

I am really proud of how the design and flow turned out, but as the developer, I am definitely biased! I would absolutely love to hear your honest thoughts, feature ideas, or UI feedback.

Let me know what you think!

https://git.logal.dev/LogalDeveloper/Owlbot

Owlbot is a self-hosted Owncast bot that is built similar to Streamlabs Nightbot so those that are used to that bot can host their own and be familiar with the bot syntax.

The bot is fully extensible allowing someone to create their own addons and share with others.

I created this nonprofit to help advocate for open tech and the Fediverse. Our plan is to take tax deducitble donations (in the US) to help fund platforms to support openness. We are currently running the following:

CONTENT:

Fireside Fedi - A vodcast where we speak with folks from around the Fediverse.
Livestream - @ozoned@stream.firesidefedi.live - https://firesidefedi.live/
Peertube - @firesidefedi@tubefree.org - https://tubefree.org/@firesidefedi
Piefed/Lemmy Community - !firesidefedi@tubefree.org

Works On My Machine - A vodcast where I sit down with developers, talk to them about their project, all while I attempt to install their software from their docs. We learn about their project and they learn that there's always a better idiot. :D
Livestream - @ozoned@worksonmymachine.live - https://womm.live/
Peertube - @worksonmymachine@tubefree.org - https://tubefree.org/@worksonmymachine
Piefed/Lemmy Community - !worksonmymachine@tubefree.org

PLATFORMS:

TubeFree - a general purpose Peertube Instance that is open for folks to join. We accept donations for higher storage limits. https://tubefree.org/

OPEN SOURCE:

PTIndex - A hosted Peertube Index for others to follow. This index is built with our TOS in mind. We pull followers of other instances that share our values. This has created a chain of trust, but we need more suggestions. For example TubeFree.org follows MakerTube. We share the same values, so I trust MakerTube would follow folks that align with their values, thus aligning with mine. So I pull in their followers and add it to our public https://ptindex.btfree.org/ for anyone to share in the connectivity. You can find the bash code https://git.btfree.org/BTFree/PTIndex

Working with others in the #fediverse-marketing:matrix.org channel to help centralized and open source presentation documents for everyone to use.
