Oh I have an uncle in India who used to run a hotel is retired now but has like 30-40 CRTs but unfortunately none of them is big all of them are under 32 inches collecting dust in storage

Yup. But just for fun imagine the storage cost for the last 20 years
you... are EVIL
I smashed so many of these for the copper. Who knew.
Nice find! I wish I had the space for a good CRT, I'd be hunting for one...
that does sound cool!
i love these things so much. my dream is to modify one to use as a wireless second-screen for background media, but i’m waiting until i can rustle up one of those schmancy color ones they used as monitors for film shoots.
you can buy a little box to transmit your own broadcasts short distances, and there’s software you can use to stream multiple channels simultaneously. imo it’s gotta be the coolest way to do local media!
not that i know of
I still have one gathering dust. Trying to figure out what to do with it.
When I was a kid, if someone had a TV in their kitchen, it was usually one of these
That’s pretty rad
You’d need to plug in a digital tuner to it these days (assuming it even has a coax or RCA input)
With the original box! Wow.
One question remains: Does anybody broadcast anything this device could pick up?
My friend got one of these from a garage cleanout but its not in good working order. They weren't made very well. South Korean I think.
Thats fricken cute ! What a deal.
My sister had a portable dual tape deck style radio in the 80s that had that TV screen as one of the tape deck bays. It had RCA out jacks for the TV, so I plugge those into the Tape deck Line in RCAs. You could record TV to a cassette. And then play it back on the console TV in. The image was poor, and the volume made the image smaller or larger on the CRT screen.
Ooo, beautiful!!
You should cross post to cassette futurism ☺️

I think .ee went down? So that comm may be dead I dunno
I had something similar growing up, but mine was black & white. I loved that thing, used it for radio, too.
