I am surprised none of them except her are screeching and fighting teeth and nails over "election fraud". They can't concede defeat, it's neither in the fascist handtweet (because they can't read a handbook) and they are all going to be prosecuted. Unless they plan to get AIPAC-funded traitors break D ranks and/or pass milquetoast "we're not here for revenge" legislature?

I'm scared they're planning a coup or a Jan. 6 2.0 massacre.

I can't remember the last time i fell off on my commute to work

That's called a traumatic brain injury sweetie.

On a serious note, it really happened to a friend. He went from riding his electric scooter home on a Friday night to being in the ER with a concussion, collapsed lung and 8 broken ribs in a blink of an eye. We suspect a hit and run but no witnesses and no memories of it. He was wearing a helmet.

Some people like to strike keys like a f-ing woodpecker whose mother was personally insulted by this particular keyboard. I had a colleague who was louder with a membrane keyboard than me with a Model M.

There are regular switches, which are kinda noisy, there are clicky switches, which are loud as fuck.

But there are silent switches, and there are strategies to silent them even more (Bandaid mods, o-rings, stab lubrication etc). My work keyboard with Boba U4 switches and the aforementioned mods is well within the noise floor of an open-space. It's not "silent" as in "completely inaudible in a controlled environment", but it is no louder than a laptop keyboard (and with a deeper, softer, less jarring sound).

What yeast did you use? I've been wanting to brew a sahti for quite some time but in can't find the very special Finnish baker's yeast. I thought about using a hefeweizen yeast with a similar flavor profile.

It's already happening and wastes a tremendous amount of time. In a sea of bullshit slop there might be one (1) claim that's actually valid and might land you in deep legal trouble if not addressed. As usual small business are the most vulnerable to this.

So, I had to "fix" my fathers browser again this morning. I swear sometimes letting the elderly loose on the internet feels like letting them rawdog a crackhead sex party under an overpass full of used syringes. They're guaranteed to catch something.

Anyway, he had half a dozen of scam extensions installed that all added "Yahoo by " (also, he uninstalled uBO ffs).

    Why?

Has yahoo become so desperate and/or scammy that they rely on malicious extensions to drive traffic to their shitty search engine? Are they so insecure that any scammer can hijack them to inject their own ads?

How the fuck can my father catch such extensions despite me locking down pretty much everything (he's on Bluefin) and not even knowing what an extension is?

Qobuz now displays a tag alerting users when music has been identified as AI-generated. This added transparency allows users to more easily identify what they are listening to.

60% of streams from tracks identified as AI are currently deemed fraudulent by Qobuz’s anti-fraud systems and are therefore excluded from rights-holders' royalty payouts

When fraudulent practices are detected, Qobuz applies strict measures: affected streams are excluded from reporting and royalty payments, and the associated content is removed from the catalogue. Qobuz thereby continues its long-standing commitment to fair compensation for artists.

Gone on holidays, for once by car so I could bring my gear.

    • Flair Pro 2 (for me)
    • Aeropress Go (for my wife)
    • 1ZPresso J-Max grinder
    • a cheap scale
    • a DIY WDT tool
    • Homeroasted beans:
      • Direct Trade Maragogype from Guatemala (SCA 83)
      • Single Farmer blend from Brazil (SCA 88)

Beats every single espresso I've had so far since we started our trip.

Since we're doing digital watches lately...

This Casio A159 is by far the cheapest of my (mostly mechanical watches) collection, both in construction and in price. It's plastic, has a folded links bracelet, has a digital movement unchanged since the late 80s but somehow, it brings me a lot of joy these days. Maybe it's the no-nonsense functionality. Maybe it's the beloved childhood aesthetics. I love it.

    Hey gang,

I'm looking for a cheap SBC for 4k HDR local content streaming on my TV. I'm moving away from streaming "services" and towards the Caribbean seas.

    What I already have

    • a LG 55B9 OLED tv. It has a serviceable media player, but due to ongoing enshittification (every update is slower than the previous one, ads everywhere, basically becoming useless) it's been airgapped for the past couple of years, forcing me to transfer content on a USB drive
    • an Apple TV 4K. It's amazing for streaming but absolutely useless for local HDR content. VLC is years away from HDR playback and the leading media players are stupidly expensive, I hate the subscription model and I'm not buying a 150€+ lifetime licence.

    What I'm looking for

    • a cheap/affordable SBC
    • running Linux (obviously)
    • guaranteed to play 4k HDR content from my local network.
    • bonus points if it can do all this while running a general enough purpose distro for light emulation.

    What are your ideas? Thanks!

WipEout 2097 was my first WipEout. Its soundtrack is etched in my memory and is, for me, the greatest videogame soundtrack ever. It defined my tastes in music, even when I strayed away from electronic towards metal. But my absolute favorite memories were on Wip3out, especially the Special Edition.

Everything about this game is perfect. It's incredibly beautiful, fluid and fast for a PS1 game. The classical physics are refined to perfection. The Designer's Republic have done their best job ever at designing the identity of this game. The soundtrack is great. The tracks are varied and a breath of fresh air after the industrial-design-fest of 2097.

It has the most content of any classic WipEout. 8 new tracks, 8 tracks remade from WipEout and WipEout 2097, 6 prototype tracks including two with a mysterious proto-"Zone" ship, all the classic teams and new ones for varied gameplay...

I fell in love again. I hadn't touched this game in almost 25 years and I love it as much, if not even more than before. I've been a lifelong WipEout fan, I've since done and enjoyed them all (except Fusion. Fuck you you ugly-ass bastard), I've spent hours on BallisticNG just to scratch that itch. But WipEout 3 Special Edition is and forever will be my love.

I didn't know it was possible for domestic use, but my stock burrs died. I just couldn't grind fine enough anymore for espresso.

Upgrading to SSP burrs was a breeze, the hardest part was the cleanup. I'm lucky to have a pretty well aligned grinder so a single shim was necessary.

The difference with the old burrs is amazing despite having barely seasoned these burrs. A lot more range is available (I'm currently grinding pretty fine at +21, while the old burrs in their prime only had around +5 to +12 of usable range). Going down to +15 is enough to choke the machine. They're a bit slower than the old ones and have a much higher pitched sound.

HU burrs are all about texture. And oh boy the espresso they create is syrupy as fuck. Taste is great too, they bring out a lot of different notes from my beans. Maybe not extreme-clarity, but still as least as good as the old ones without compromising on texture.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with the upgrade.

For those who would only want/need to upgrade their Framework 13 Classic input cover to the Pro one for the haptic trackpad, what looks would you choose?

    • Silver for a stealth upgrade, monochrome all the way
    • graphite for that classic XPS13 look, silver on the outside, black on the inside
    • Fuck it I'm doing a full external upgrade, matte black everything
