Very cool ! I will let you decide. :)

if there is a resource that would benefit from the format of the static site (ex. interactive elements), we could add it in? I’m mainly considering duplicated work on your part.

Yes, don't hesitate to duplicate, i explicity wrote it :)

Maybe you want to follow lemmy wiki organization ? A different plan ?

If you need help i suggest we talk about it in zulip because i can create lot topics as a memo for the wiki and it help me for the organization. :)

Some of that can be done by generalizing a few pages from the Lemmy section, and linking it twice. We also have a little bit written up about the big picture differences between Lemmy and Piefed: https://fedecan.ca/en/guide/fedecan/our-platforms#forum-style

I will take time to read it. I'm busy this week. :)

Interesting, i saw a similar comment. Well i disagree because there is a balance with transparency and privacy.

Firstly, Piefed UI is slightly different from lemmy and it evolves very very quickly. If you tried it last month, it may be no longer true.

    Maybe there is federation issue.

    There is a modlog :

Mind, the moderation on PieFed is different from lemmy. In fact, we have 2 admins role : admin and staff.

The vote system is diffferent from Reddit and lemmy :

    • you can "protect" your privacy by making your vote only visible to local user
    • on community, you can block downvote from account that aren't members of community
    • account that downvote too much will see their downvote ability removed. If there is a good balance between upvote-downvote, it shouldn't be an issue. The correct way is to block a community.

Also we offer some filter to remove Trump/Elon from your timelime.

I think you should join PieFed chat so we can understand where the issue is, and listen to you. Maybe there is a federation issue between lemmy and piefed modlog ?

Maybe you prefer lemmy and that's cool. :)

  • Flatpak Happenings Logiciel libre (blog.sebastianwick.net)

Yesterday I released Flatpak 1.17.0. It is the first version of the unstable 1.17 series and the first release in 6 months. There are a few things which didn’t make it for this release, which is why I’m planning to do another unstable release rather soon, and then a stable release still this year.

Back at LAS this year I talked about the Future of Flatpak and I started with the grim situation the project found itself in: Flatpak was stagnant, the maintainers left the project and PRs didn’t get reviewed.

Some good news: things are a bit better now. I have taken over maintenance, Alex Larsson and Owen Taylor managed to set aside enough time to make this happen and Boudhayan Bhattcharya (bbhtt) and Adrian Vovk also got more involved. The backlog has been reduced considerably and new PRs get reviewed in a reasonable time frame.

    • improved nextcloud UI & performance & make keyboard shortcut more visible
    • added suggestion bar in nextcloud text to help users
    • improved UI in nextcloud talk : bottom bar & side bar
    • improved file search
    • photo search filter & can create album based on search filter
    • rewritten iOS app Nextcloud file : improved performance &UI

Open Minds aims to increase the digital skills of one of the key sectors of European civil society: that covering social and cultural players and the broad public with whom they are in contact.

The needs in terms of digital transition increased during the health crisis, which highlighted the extent of the digital divide and the need to increase digital skills.

To develop the project, we proposed to work along three lines:

    • free access to a database of free software resources
    • a training environment for socio-cultural players
    • regular publications to encourage change towards free software.

Fish 4.2 is now available as the latest version of this popular shell on Linux, macOS, and other systems.

Since Fish 4.0 the shell was rewritten from C++ to Rust. With Fish 4.2, the minimum supported Rust version is bumped to Rust 1.85. Fish 4.2's history-based auto-suggestions now include multi-line commands, a transient prompt containing more lines than the final prompt will now be cleared properly, various language translation updates, and a variety of interactive improvements. Plus a number of Fish 4.1 regressions have been resolved and other improvements.

Fish 4.2 comes in at nearly 500 commits over the prior version from nearly three dozen contributors. Downloads and more details on the Fish 4.2 shell via GitHub.

Debian developer Julian Andres Klode sent out a message on Halloween that may give some Debian Linux users and developers a spook: the APT packaging tool next year will begin requiring a Rust compiler. This will place a hard requirement by Debian Linux on Rust support for all architectures. Debian CPU architectures with ports currently but lacking Rust support will either need to see support worked on or be sunset.

The Kdenlive team is happy to announce the release of version 25.08.0 packed with over 300 commits and fixing more than 15 crashes. This release has no major shiny new features, just a ton of bug fixes and lots of polishing to give you a pleasant editing experience in the summer heat.

    This week in FreeCAD development:

Sketcher: AjinkyaDahale fixed a regression where trimming would break polygons (PR#25054).

PaddleStroke fixed a bug where Offset would not select an open loop correctly (PR#25091).

He also improved constraint rendering (PR#24534, PR#25055). tetektoza patched the code to make it remember the cursor angle for on-view parameters (OVP) after an OVP…

    Transcripion of the video

Jeremy: You know, when we work on the internet, we use tools developed by large companies, which then collect the data we produce and use it for advertising, profiling, and targeting purposes.

We've decided to counter this by developing a tool called Clic.

Mathieu Ritimo: We're working on a solution that allows you to download a file with a single click. It can be installed on a small computer, about this big, which consumes four watts, or on an old computer that you no longer use and have repurposed.

This will allow you to have services on your computer such as those found at Framasoft, free services, and to store your data locally. This is typically when you need confidentiality, when you need to store your data locally and prefer to refrain from connecting to the wider internet.

You have a small local internet. It also allows you to go to places where there is no internet, such as a ZAD (Zone à Défendre, or Zone to Defend).

It can also be useful if you want and need to store your data locally for your family, but you have the option, if you wish, to connect to it, in which case you have the guarantee that your data is stored on your machine, but you can access it via the internet.

Jeremy: So, we are still working on Clic, which will be available in spring 2023. From then on, you will be able to download and install it in one click on your computers, old computers or small computers, and thus regain control over your data.

Well, you don't know how biology works. Inactive viruse is not very efficient to call an immune reponse. Even myself, i have a hard time understanding it because it is technical and i have to slowly reread study.

It is very technical and the result of decade of research by scientifics, they started the first mRNA vaccine in 1990. It is also a very promising solution against cancer.

!fediverse@piefed.social is great, and slowly growing. I lack good ressource for update and news. It's hard to find good content about it. :)

!geekos@piefed.zip is fulling its goal, a free software community on piefed. I'm slowly filling the tag cloug with hashtag as linux, kde, gnome, libre phone...they will reach the fediverse. :3 And i added foss event where asso, dev, foundation meet each other and share their ideas. :)
