Depends on where in the curve the enshittification of the competition has become. Windows 11 seems like convenience and maturity, until you realize that desktop Linux has been a far more functional product for years, and it doesn't what you take, take, take from you every chance it can get.
Photoshop seems like convenience and maturity, until you realize you have options that don't want to charge you hundreds of dollars a month.
Hell, after using both Adobe Premiere and DaVinci Resolve, I just flat out prefer the latter. And the improvements Blackmagic has put out for the last few major releases prove that they will continue to improve their software. Granted, Resolve isn't exactly FOSS, but it is free, and I can at least respect them way way more than Adobe's shitty business models.
He played such a great role with Bester. I'm glad he had a lasting impact outside of Star Trek, even if I really like both franchises.
Played that on the ATARI XL as a kid. As crude as it is now, that shit was scary back then, especially all of the death animations.
Ahhh, one of those digital sadomasochists. How are the polymorph pixels treating you? Do they still keep you up at night?
I got tired of Tenacity staying stagnant for months, and still having documentation link issues. Meanwhile, Audacity was actually making meaningful improvements.
After diving deeper in the nontroversy, and seeing their in-depth video explaining their design decisions, I concluded that they genuinely want to improve the software and aren't trying to fuck over the OSS community. So, I switched back when I dumped Windows and switched to Linux.
There's an extreme black and white view of these kinds of issues that crop up in the community that just pisses me off, and shoddy tech reporting doesn't help matters. This wasn't a "Oracle buys MySQL" situation, and the response didn't deserve a fork. But, hey, it's free software, and people can fork whatever they want.
Martin Stig Andersen. Same guy that made the Limbo soundtrack, except his ambience here seems more polished for a modern era game. Stranger soundscapes than Limbo, which fits the mood. Petri's stuff is pretty good, too, but it's a different kind of creepy ambience and he's not afraid to put more energy behind it for the fight scenes.
I have this in my Halloween playlist to weird out the trick-or-treaters.
I'm still puzzled that they made their masterpiece in SOMA and then wasted years of their life on Amnesia sequels. At least ONTOS is on the horizon.
This stupid new slang meaning for the word can fuck off.
Agreed. I've been replaying Space Pirates and Zombies, and all of the crew are called goons. Something Awful's forum posters were called goons. Watch any TV cartoon from even 15-20 years ago, and the villain probably has a workforce of goons.
I don't mind repurposing old words, but you got to give it more time to go out of style.
I'm not buying it because the first one was buggy as shit, had a draw distance that's laughable even for a Unity game, had incredible music that's it's barely heard because it cuts off all the time, wall "suggestions", clipping, other graphical glitches, and has the gall to advertise "Hit F8 to report bugs" every moment it's showcasing its own bugs.
And don't get me started on the design flaws. The Insulting unrealistic O2 meter. There's not enough keyslots. Torpedos are useless. The Cyclops is useless, and yet, you have to spend all of these resources just to get some material for the final rocket. It dies to leeches in very short order, and moves around like a space cow.
Also, the whole game taunts a story and then delivers a milquetoast ending.
Linux, and variations of it, dominated every device, because you can download the OS for free and use it without issue. Blender is one of the biggest 3D modeling tools, because it's open-source and free. DaVinci Resolve, GIMP, and other Adobe replacements, are steadily becoming the standard tools because they are freely available and people are sick and tired of greedy subscriptions. Corridor Crew put out new greenscreen tech for free to a very hungry audience, and it may end up as the de facto keying technology for years to come.
People want free. People demand free. The internet has been founded on the concept of free since its inception: information wants to be free. If you are not offering free, you are in the way, and that monopoly will fall over eventually to your free competitors. You cannot possibly beat free, especially when the ecosystem is well-established and maintained.
I'm posting on Lemmy, and hopefully, everybody here already knows this.
Mechanicus is a great tactics game with a BALLER soundtrack
Pretty much the best Warhammer 40K soundtrack out there, and the whole game is just dripping with atmosphere. The sound design is some of the best I've ever seen.
