Oh, yeah, I have Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers after seeing it at some previous event I think. I've downloaded too many games and never made time to play any of them (◞‸◟;)

Thanks for the tip but I'm so massively behind on my email queue that I can't think of adding more. Besides which, there are so many events happening throughout the year and I'm always searching for the time to split between my interests that I just can't dedicate myself to just speedruns.

Oh, shit, really? I still haven't caught up on all the Flame Fatales runs I wanted to watch. Any runs upcoming or already happened you recommend checking out? I see Jaxler has a run tomorrow night I'd definitely like to catch.

Really wish actual runs had more than a nanosecond of lead-up. They went from twenty minutes of couch footage suddenly breaking into gameplay, to twenty minutes of crowd footage suddenly breaking into gameplay. That was not the problem to be solved, guys. I've got the stream in the corner of a monitor, and it feels like every single run, I glance away for thirty seconds and the run is somehow three minutes in.

I agree with you, but this newsletter signup has extremely straightforward checkboxes for what you want

But yes I think they overdo it. And they spam Twitch notifications and social media so much that people tune them out. This newsletter should help that problem.

I'll believe the usefulness of this when I see it. With their ever widening glut of non-GDQ content, I find it harder and harder to keep up with A/S-GDQ proper.

I suspect this is just another attempt by them to try and prop up the non-"main event" stuff they keep trying to do, rather than an actual useful tool.

    Massive complaining tangent:

Am I the only one who's interest has waned significantly since they started growing past AGDQ and SGDQ?

When they started, there wasn't a lot of speed running content available that was particularly accessible outside of each game's specific speed running community, but nowadays every speed runner has their own twitch and YouTube channel. So then GDQ served as an easier source for high quality speed runs with somewhat reliable quality of commentary.

Now that they have all these regular ongoing events weekly and monthly, it no longer feels like "an event" or the higher quality than just browsing YouTube like it used to be. It just feels like another gaming group channel growing ever more bloated, combined with this weird space where for some of their more casual "recurring events" it's also kind of just a group of friends fucking about but with less chemistry due to the corporate/group overhead? Plus there were at least a few years with drama that ages ago that also soured my opinion of them.

Yeah they should've had noise cancelling headphones and white noise generators for the racers, similar to StarCraft tournaments

Or just do a solo run and save the randomizer races for actual tournaments where the viewers are more familiar and the commentators can speak freely

Yeah, that run was for the like limited people that know DK64rabdomizer quite well i think. I play a lot of it, so that was sick to me, but it seemed super hard to follow for everyone else including my partner who rarely has a problem following a randomizer.

I see why they have to play same seed but also it's tough to not be vocal on stage about what's going on

dlroW oiraM repuS - tixE 69, was probably favorite just because I got to see one of my favorite game in a whole new way. I'll definitely be trying it out at some point.

Big Spike Vegeta fan and a fan of DK64, but I found the randomizer too hard to follow. It didn't help that since it was a race they had moments of "I can't say anything to give the other player an advantage". Even the commentary said that it was difficult to follow.

It was ok, but just ok for that reason.
