Saved you a couple clicks.
Wow! What a great Christmas present for retro gaming fans! From the VGHF's own article (the source for this one)
With a few exceptions, this recovery project has accounted for almost all outstanding Sega Channel games. We believe this also means there are now digital backup copies of every unique Sega Genesis game released in the United States.
That's incredible! Finally my collector's heart can rest easy.
functional but unreleased web browser
And people say the Dreamcast web browser was before it's time. Holy shit SEGA!
The Video Game History Foundation has announced that a massive, multi-year project to recover Sega Channel games from the mid-1990s has been a resounding success. Over 140 previously undumped Sega Genesis game ROMs from this era have been recovered, many exclusives, as well as a functional but unreleased web browser for the 16-bit console. The data was found on a collection of tape backups held by former Sega Channel staffers.
Yes, I used archive a lot. I had to download a lot of dats one by one because the torrent is almost dead: only one incomplete and very slow seed. For dats missing only a couple of roms I used https://myrient.erista.me/
I think that right now I do not have storage for Redump, but it is something that at some point I will go for.
No-Intro should be pretty easy, there's significant chunks of the NTSC rom sets up on archive.org
I don't hoard like I used to, especially as I got into romhacks, but RomVault always seemed to be the way to go.
Now that I don't just keep full sets sitting around, I usually just pop onto archive.org and grab whatever I need from the nointro sets there. For disc based games, there's some redump collections on archive, but for most disc based past PS1 or Gamecube I have to check the piracy megathreads for whatever sites haven't been taken down yet.
If anyone even checks this megathread, can I trust MyAbandonware ROMs? Being more specific, this one.
