Personally I checked the community discord server and one of the mods made a scanning batch script and I used that. It didn't have any other action than searching for files and is just the same steps outlined in the github gist. From the scanning report it said that I also got the payload but it apparently didn't launch once.

The stressful part is the changing passwords. Especially banks passwords because they still have stupid password rules.

Honestly the compensation is poor for the stress and damage this potentially has, or unfortunately for some had happened.

As an update, Shift Up have announced the PC client is cleaned, and they also outlined steps to take to check for infection (which is the same as the GitHub). They awarded 20 free pulls compensation and 20 rocks, with some other stuff too.

They also updated the client to check itself and remove malicious files, to prevent this in the future.

Well I did reset my PC. Its really the only way to be sure it is gone. Plus I needed to use the PC again, so I just did it. Changing all my 500 passwords is annoying, but its better than losing access.

Still, it seems this attack was planned targetting Nikke specifically. And they had access to Tencent's supply chain. I would begin to suspect someone that hates the games, or a Tencent former employee or something. Hololive also just recently did big Nikke promotions, so its possible stealing their personal data was the target, but I don't know if the attacker knew about that back in September 27 when they first delivered the entry point. But if they worked for the company, then its possible they might have known. Either way, hope it gets resolved soon.

The compensation will have to be monumental.

If the compensation is anything less than a 4K animation of Cinderella's sex scene that runs for at least 100 hours, then I'll say Nikke is EOS.

I unfortunately deleted my entire Nikke folder right after seeing k2f_chan in the debug log, so I have no idea if it actually ran and got anything from my browser.

I don't want to wipe my computer yet since that'll be a pain in the ass. My bank doesn't save cookies when I login, so I think I'll be fine on that end. So far I've only changed my passwords for my emails, Nikke account, and Steam.

It seems I may have receieved the payload but it may not have launched, or if it did, it thoroughly removed traces of itself.

Also, the PC client still is serving malicious files for some CDN buckets, so its safer not to use it right now.

Both minigame and even the main event story. The SFX is well done to complement the story and visuals. It perfectly fits the them and that's what's "wrong" with it lol. It's torture to play them both, making me appreciate Marian a lot.

It's interesting how ShiftUp cemented Marian in a lot of players' mind by killing her in the tutorial and she persists until now. Amazing ShiftUp move.
