It's a dns issue, I've heard the ttl for neocities' records is 3h so it's gonna be that at minimum since the problem was noticed and action taken to resolve it, but everything should otherwise be alright

So this is a bit late, and maybe you've found a solution already, but I'm in the process of updating my site layout too and wanted to share a resource that's been hugely helpful for me!

    https://matthewjamestaylor.com/responsive-columns

I'm already implementing these in my site's existing layout, but I'm unhappy with a lot of other elements so I'm working on a big update that still utilizes groups of responsive columns.

His site has a lot of great advice + resources that I've found HUGELY helpful as I've gotten back into webpage coding the last ~year lol For example, I've started using custom elements instead of divs (mostly) bc it's been a lifesaver for my poor ADD brain when I come back to edit after any time away and otherwise would have to spend an embarrassing amount of time reorienting myself with what everything is lol (extra info for using custom elements)

He's also got a page/article on how to make font size responsive (without JS) in case that might be useful 👍🏻

If you pay for a cheap/small VPS and install WireGuard on it and pass your local traffic through it, you’ll get most of the privacy a standard VPN offers. The only disadvantage is you’ll only have one exit address. The advantage is it won’t be on a list of known VPN exit nodes.

Oh, ended up seeing this post again, a late update from 24 Nov: "Thanks for the report, I have changed the CDN so that avif content types are supported properly. This will take place for any new uploads and existing uploads after 14 days (the content type is cached)."
