With the idea transferred from the similar community on Reddit, Canada Disability is a place for people in Canada to share resources, experience, and advice for people with and families of people with physical disabilities, mental illness, neurodivergence, chronic illnesses, etc.
In addition to the rules on this instance (see sidebar on the homepage), this community adopts the following rules:
Keep it Canada-centric
We'd love to see anyone who wants to participate in this community, whether you're disabled or not. But please realize that this is a Canadian-focused disability community. As such, content must be related in some way to Canada.
Trolling
Content posted with the explicit purpose of antagonizing, creating conflict, or otherwise stirring the pot will be removed. Repeatedly posting that content will also remove you.
Disrespectful Conduct
This community is for respectful, civil discussion. Disagreements are fine. Debates are fine. Personal attacks are not. Be respectful, or say nothing.
Absolutely No Ableism
None. Ever. Ableism in this community gets you banned, and that ban is permanent.
No Racism/sexism/homophobia/transphobia/etc
This is not what this community is for, and has absolutely no business here. Racism, sexism, or any of the other isms are not going to be tolerated here. If you can't be polite and respectful, you can't be here.
No Doxxing
Doxxing, or the sharing of other people's personal information, is not only against this community's rules, but is also probably against Lemmy.ca's rules sitewide. Do not dox. Just don't.
No Surveys
This community does not invite surveys, be they paid, free, anonymous or otherwise. This is a supportive sub intended for disabled people and those who support them, not a data point.
For everything else, please use common sense and the instance's own rules.
